These speakers pack a quality punch! Opening the box, the speakers are very well packaged for transit. Lifting them out the box as instructed was exciting and surprising. Each speaker is quite heavy and has a very solid construction. Great to look at. Simple elegant design, mesh covers over the cones giving a classy finish. Inside the accessories box is 4m of speaker wire, 2 x mains cables ( one for each region), foam Bungs x 2 and the remote control. Assembling them is a piece of cake! There is a comprehensive user manual, but you don’t really need it. Assembly is very straight forward. On the back of the units there are the speaker out terminals, which you unscrew the nut insert the wire as instructed and tighten the nut. Make sure you have the + - aligned both ends. There are no other connections or switches on the passive speaker. On the active speaker there are two switches, one to identify whether the speaker is left or right, the other is for the bass, you toggle the switch to allow the digital equaliser to compensate for the speaker position ie in a corner, near a wall…. The photo I’ve shown completely set up is for aesthetics, ideally you want these 1st class speakers to be 2m or more apart. I have them directly connected to a pre amp turntable with an RCA connection, and together they have brought my vinyl collection back to life. The sound is incredible! There are also outlets for USB Optical, Aux and sub woofer enabling you to plug in other media like your games console or TV etc. There is also the operation and volume control on the top of the active speaker, which are flush with the unit and don’t detract from the sleek exterior of the unit. When you initially turn on the speakers, you need to make a selection from either the remote control or the control square on the top of the active speaker. If you’re playing a record, select ANA and the control square on the top of the active speaker will turn Green. Simple. To pair your speakers with your phone or other Bluetooth device, press and hold the BLU button on the remote and the control square on top of the unit will flash and search for your device. When paired and using this mode the control square will be Blue. It’s very easy then to control the volume and playback from the remote control, you can Play Pause, FFwd & Rewind. The sound is exceptional from these speakers. Crisp and full. I’m not an expert, but you can hear the quality of that makes sense? I am very happy with this purchase. Easy to install, easy to operate, very easy on the ear! 5* High quality kit! For a home user - I won’t ever need to upgrade!

Outstanding sound for the price, great connection options, easy to set up, looks great and has a good base tone

Bought these besides a pair of Klipsch The Fives speakers (£899) for comparison as I had settled on either of those two speakers for my PC setup (music, Netflix and gaming) after reading loads of reviews. I fully expected to like the Klipsch more but in the end I kept the M20. The Klipsch simply have too much bass, even if cut down. The M20 seem to sound right just out of the box. Whenever I switched between the two, I was amazed by the wide soundstage and the clarity that the M20 provide. In direct comparison after switching I sometimes thought they have a slight harshness to them but that feeling went away after listening for a minute. They very much benefit from connecting a subwoofer though. I'm running a Q Acoustics 3070S and I'm very happy with the overall sound. Rounded off with great connectivity and a sleek design, you can do nothing wrong with these speakers for the price. My only gripe is the volume control. The Fives have an amazingly responsive wheel for volume control which makes it super easy to set them exactly where you want them in an instant. The M20 have buttons and sometimes I feel I need to press them a lot when switching between music and Zoom calls. Some volume steps also seem to be uneven jumps. But I can forgive this slightly annoying detail in the face of the value these speakers have to offer.

So these are good sounding speakers for the money please with the sound and spatial mid and large field sound I am using these as studio monitors Did not like near field monitors for lots of reasons So chose these What I do not like is 1. They turn off too soon if no audio 2. No indication on the front if on the led is on the top which is of no use what so ever 3. No idea what level the volume I am at At any time So in conclusion good sounding speakers Good value Poor volume and power indicators wrong place and not informative of what going on that’s why I would hesitate before you buying as this really annoys me It’s a shame a bit more thought the the design and it would be 5*

I've been looking for a good quality solution for desktop music and gaming use for a long time. This market is dominated by gaming peripheral brands, and the likes of Edifier. There's nothing wrong with these at all, but the lack of options have been pushing folks towards active monitors or passive hifi bookshelf speakers powered by small Amps and DACs. I was researching these when I came across some very positive expert reviews of the Qaccoustics M20, and chose these for myself. Considering what you're getting here - a pair of high quality bookshelf speakers with a built in Amp and DAC, tons of connectivity including Bluetooth, some well handled dsp - this is a very neat and versatile product that could be in your home for years to come. The sound off these things? Beautiful. Detailed, controlled, unfussy, very pleasent. Listening to music on these is so enjoyable. These are speakers that will remind you why you love your music, and will encourage you to explore your tastes. They're not fussy about their placement either. I would rate these very firmly in entry level hifi territory, and I think most enthusiasts would agree. As they're marketed as multimedia speakers, I'd encourage Qaccoustics to consider HDMI pass through in a revision, but would understand that could bump the pricing a bit. If you are considering these for desktop use, make sure you have the desk space, they're much longer than conventional desktop speakers. And yes, they knock the socks off most active speakers marketed for desktop. Well worth considering if you have the budget.

Best speaker and plenty of inputs

I'd previously purchased a pair of Kanto YU2 for computer setup, but was dissapointed in them and found them fatiguing to listen to. I wondered if I'd be better of with some active book shelf speakers and having previously owned the Q Acoustic BT3s, I thought I'd give the M20s a chance. These are fairly big speakers for a desk and computer (especially the depth), so you need a fair bit of space for them. I'll start with a few minor issues. One appealing feature for a computer setup is that these speakers have a USB connection. The manual indicates that when connected via USB, playing audio will wither bring the speakers out of standby or if already on, switch them to the USB input. With my Macbook, I've found this does not work. Additionally, on Mac at least, you can't control the volume of them from the OS, it has to be done on the speakers/remote - interestingly the mute, pause/play and skip tack buttons all do work. Simply they sound fantastic - really good - they genuinely make me happy. They have plenty of connections and were easy to connect up to my sub, turntable and Nintendo Switch. They look very smart. The remote is minimal, but well designed. I'm very tempted now to get some M40s for my TV.

This is an active speaker system with bookshelf size speakers. One speaker has the amplifier in it together with different input signal options (analogue, optical, Bluetooth and USB. The second speaker is driven by wire from the amplifier speaker. The sound quality is very good with the Bluetooth having an hd codec which is good as Bluetooth gets if driven by an hd Bluetooth source. There is a subwoofer output to enable stronger bass which is how I use it. We have a through lounge and this system can supply good volume without distortion. Also small systems can often sound better at low volume than much more powerful systems at low volumes. I have both and use both under different circumstances. This M20 system has had good write ups and reviews in audio press with good reason.

Ottimi diffusori attivi con un livello audio HiFi, di alta qualità audio. Molto buono anche il rapporto qualità prezzo. Da un punto di vista sonoro sono delle ottime e buone casse, esteticamente curate possono piacere come non. Fondamentale è capire l'uso che si vuole farne e soprattutto dove posizionarle. Entriamo nel dettaglio dei principali aspetti... Audio: Audio eccellente, con buona scena sonora. Alti, medi e bassi ben bilanciati. Tweeter da 22mm e medio/bassi da 125mm svolgono appieno il proprio compito. Buon crossower. Nessun fruscio, nessun rimbombo fastidioso almeno fino a metà e oltre del volume (oltre non sono riuscito ad andare). Tre possibilità di "equalizzazione" preimpostate in base al posizionamento dei diffusori se vicini o distanti dai muri. Audio molto lineare che non stanca all'ascolto. Sono diffusori pensati principalmente per ascoltare musica e non per vedere film, anche se c'è la possibilità di aggiungere un Sub o di usarle come Desktop/pc o per la TV. Il volume massimo può essere fin troppo alto. Ottimo Dac interno. Qualità audio, dunque: pienamente promossa in rapporto a dimensioni e prezzo delle casse. Connessioni e funzioni: In ingresso: Bluetooth 5.0, RCA, USB e Ottico. In uscita un Sub out. Manca la possibilità di un ingresso phono per il giradischi, rispetto anche a ciò che offrono casse attivi simili nello stesso range di mercato, o di un canale ARC specifico. Come detto da altri utenti: dopo 20 minuti senza ricevere segnale sonoro vanno automaticamente in stand by. Fatta eccezione se si collegano con il cavo Usb (sembrano rimanere sempre attive). Possibilità di usare il telecomando in dotazione o di cambiare le funzioni con i tasti incorporati alla cassa principale. Attenzione: ad eccezione della connessione bluetotoh, con gli altri ingressi (Usb e RCA, non so se anche con quella ottica ma immagino di sì) ad ogni avvio delle casse, il volume si imposta automaticamente su un livello medio/basso e va rialzato ogni volta per raggiungere il volume desiderato (non proprio il massimo della funzionalità, direi). Estetica: Esteticamente ben curate, dal "Q" logo alla rotondità della forma, fino alla colorazione delle sue varianti. Anche i "dettagli" come le levette o l'ingresso dei cavi audio per il collegamento delle casse sono molto rifiniti. Le griglie, purtroppo, non sono rimovibili (secondo me è un punto a sfavore). Sono poi diffusori molto particolari: sono casse "strette e lunghe", o "più lunghe che alte..." (anche se in realtà sono alte 2,1cm in più della profondità). Insomma rispetto ai classici diffusori da scaffale la cui dimensione maggiore è l'altezza, in questo caso vince la profondità. E questo è un aspetto molto critico per due motivi: possono non piacere a tutti (soprattutto agli estimatori dello stile classico), e sono difficili da posizionare. Parliamo di 27,5 cm di profondità (attenzione: nella descrizione questa misura è segnata erroneamente come larghezza) con il consiglio di tenerle almeno a 20cm dal muro... dunque dovreste posizionarle almeno a mezzo metro da un muro. Nonostante vengano vendute anche come casse desktop (c'è anche l'immagine) o da utilizzo PC, non si prestano bene a quest'uso: dovreste avere una scrivania profonda almeno 100/120cm e comunque il volume sonoro risulterebbe molto alto, tanto che andrebbero utilizzate a circa il 20/30% massimo del loro vero potenziale. Ecco, qui io credo che sia il nodo di tutta la faccenda: queste casse sono molto belle e curate, anche se non con l'aspetto classico dei diffusori da libreria, e soprattutto hanno una qualità audio molto, molto elevata, come elevata è la loro potenza e discreti sono peso e dimensioni. Domanda: sono diffusori da stanza, da desktop o da salotto? Qui sta il punto da comprendere bene: per potenza e anche per dimensione sono secondo me sovra dimensionate per una stanza di 12/16 mq, mentre per un bel salotto già dai 20/25mq in su potrebbero risultare sotto dimensionate. Tanto più se tutto questo lo colleghiamo al prezzo di vendita, attualmente intorno ai 500€... Vale la pena spendere così "tanto" per un sistema desktop/da stanzetta che non potrà essere usato neanche a metà delle sue potenzialità? E vale la pena spendere così "poco" per un sistema audio che non riuscirà a soddisfare completamente spazi più ampi come saloni o ascoltatori più esigenti? Non so... sicuramente la qualità audio è alta e piacevole, ma oltre alla qualità serve anche una idea di uso che qui è troppo poco definita: andrebbero bene per tutto (musica principalmente, ma anche film e pc, stanza o salotto) e per niente al contempo. Se dovessi valutare solo la qualità audio direi e darei 5 stelle, se dovessi valutare solo l'estetica dei particolari e della rotondità direi 5 stelle, se dovessi valutare la funzionalità e le dimensioni direi 3 stelle... però devo dire che alla fine sono casse di cui si può rimanere "ammaliati" e questo fa vincere sicuramente 5 stelle. Sono diverse, di alta qualità, sono belle. Peccano un poco in funzionalità.

For a small speaker they certainly do a great job. They are an odd shape being tall and slim with a deep front to back profile. But with that said the design definitely works well. High quality material and a "sound" build, combine to make a high-quality speaker. Despite their size they do put out a lot of sound and are great when applied to desktop systems or a small room stereo. Speakers have their limitations and with that said don't expect these speakers to fill the volume of a large area such as a recreation room. I have mine set up in my master bedroom office and they work fine. I recommend these speakers for practical applications.

Not in the habit of reviewing products online, but in this case had to make an exception, because I think Q Acoustics M20 is, well, exceptional. Received them a few days ago, and have my tv and cd player both hooked up to them. Even the bluetooth sound is passable. The sound is so clear, it has me wondering whether I should just ditch my marantz amp and just listen to everything through these speakers. I know it sounds crazy, but if I am reading I sometimes glance up just to make sure the actual musicians are not right there in front of me

It’s good product worth buying and I’m using it as a multi media.
