Great pen that I have used for two months
I received this pen for Christmas. I hate it when people write the fresh out of the package reviews. They are useless. I have written with it for about two months, and here is what I have decided about this pen. There are some one star reviews that should not be given to this pen. There were people that said the pen skipped and caught on the paper a lot. I wanted to figure out how they could even have this happen to them. My pen looks amazing, is by far one of the easiest to use fountain pens I have written with, and is so smooth. When I say that the pen writes well, I mean that it is not picky. I have written with fountain pens that require a finite angle fire it to write. However, when I picked up this pen, I did not miss a stroke. Normally, you have more trouble when you get a new fountain pen; you have to learn the optimal angle, and it can take at least an after noon to find the sweet spot. The people that put the one star reviews for it catching boggled me. I can rest my pen on my hand and drag it, with only the pen's weight holding it down, and it still writes. I noticed that when I showed this pen to one of my friends, however, they wrote with it upside down. They got extremely frustrated and thought it was terrible. When you write upside down with this pen (metal part of the nib facing down) it skips and catches on the paper. A lot of fountain pens can write upside down, but this one cannot. As long as you write with the metal side up, this pen is very smooth and does not catch our skip. So, at least some of the various one and two star reviews are probably people writing up side down with this pen. I love this pen. I use or every day for my notes at school, and it is great. This pen does not come with an adapter, and the description does not mention that it does. I recommend getting one for this pen. The adapter had a sufficient amount of ink capacity, is easy to use, and will save you money in the long run. So, overall this is a great pen. It writes smoothly, does not skip a lot, is easy to write with, and is very catching and pleasant to the eye. I hope this review can help someone choose a pen.

Quality since 1883
For awhile now I have enjoyed dabbling with dip pens, and I have maintained regular written correspondence with a friend since I was in third grade (2001). I still write letters to friends, acquaintances, and former co-workers. These days, handwritten correspondence is a rarity, limited to short lines on holiday and get-well cards. As such, people nowadays are often delighted to receive letters. For me, fountain pens have the same old-fashioned charisma of dip pens, but feel more sophisticated and less démodé due to their convenience. They are not just for signatures...fountain pens make writing an enjoyable experience, and add a uniqueness to the sway and flow of the script that a ballpoint cannot replicate. The reader is sure to notice this pleasing touch. The Waterman Hemisphere is a joy to use and looks quite sleek and elegant. The fine nib allows the writer to use most regular paper without worry of feathering or bleeding. Waterman pens have been crafted in France since 1883, and the Hemisphere is a beautiful representation of their quality and prominent reputation. This pen comes in a delightful box, with a blue ink cartridge as well as an instructions and maintenance guide. This is a wonderful gift for writers or a friend at the office. This pen does not come with a cartridge adapter. You may wish to purchase the Waterman adapter and ink because it is more cost effective in the long run than buying cartridges.

Waterman Hemisphere Fine Nib
The headline says “medium nib” but the fine print in the product description says “fine nib.”I received a fine, was hoping for a medium. It writes well, but not any better than the allure (and they are nearly the same size) in fine which is half to a quarter of the price. The Carene is far smoother, however the cap snaps on more securely with the Hemisphere. It is lightweight and slim, the grip is a little too slippery, but for $60 I can’t complain.Has some hard starts, but once it’s going it writes well and without bleed through.
