True to size
These sheets work absolutely amazing in my dehydrator. I really love the fact when Iโm dehydrating any type of my herbs like mint or time it catches everything and it makes the cleanup much easier.

These dehydrator sheets have changed my life!
When I first started trying to grow microgreens, I was very frustrated because coir was so messy, paper towels didn't work like I wanted them to, and the wonderful Bootstrap Farmer 1020 solid growing trays with my 5x5 inserts with holes were really too deep. I was looking at buying more shallow trays, special tray screens on which to grow microgreens, etc., and looking at a whole ton of money. I wasn't sure growing microgreens was even going to be something I'll want to keep doing, so I was reluctant to make that investment. I'm doing Kratky-style mason jar hydroponics and Aerogardens as well. I saw a few YouTube videos where people had used silicone dehydrator sheets cut to size to grow microgreens. The one that impressed me most said to use two sheets per tray, one on the bottom to hold the seeds and another on top of the seeds to add a little weight to help them germinate. So I got these dehydrator sheets to try, thinking the non-stick quality would probably help me pull off the roots and clean them up easier when a batch of microgreens is harvested. I folded one of these 14x14 sheets in thirds, clipped the ends together to be able to cut the sides more accurately, then folded it in thirds again and cut to wind up with nine 5x5 squares out of one sheet. I thought I was going to have to trim them all down a little to fit in the bottom of my little trays, but then I had one of those strokes of genius we crazy gardeners sometimes get: I'd fill the trays up with Smart Gravel (I ordered a huge bag by mistake), then lay the dehydrator sheets on top...and the sheets are a perfect fit! I can even place another 1020 tray on top of it all to exclude light and add more weight, which I couldn't have done if the dehydrator sheets were on the bottom. What I like the best about this approach is that, one, it puts my microgreens up closer to the lights and, two, I can literally fill up the entire deep growing tray with water that the roots (Kratky style!) can grow down into and drink up. I should just need to mist the germinating seeds in the beginning until they start getting their roots down into the Smart Gravel and water, and then the roots should keep growing down into the water as its level drops over time, as happens with my Kratky jars. I'm thinking I shouldn't have to give them any water at all after the first few days until harvest time. So I have to say, these dehydrator sheets have changed my life! And such a small price to pay for something that can be used over and over again! I used two sheets to make eighteen 5x5 squares, which leaves me one set of sheets extra when I use two for each 5x5 grow tray. After this first test batch, I'll probably cut more sheets for a few more trays...or use the sheets in my dehydrator when I buy it! LOL! I'll be able to rotate different types of seeds and use different timings so I'll always have fresh microgreens in some stage of growth, and cleaning up each tray should be a snap. I'm going to be doing what some microgreens experts advise, which is not to add nutrients (because seeds have all they need for the first few weeks), and that will also help keep things cleaner. Anyway, I could gush all day about this!
