Review: This One Works in the 2026 Honda Passport and by Extension the 2027 Honda Pilot - The 2026 Honda Passport is very finicky as to what thumb drives will work for play your own music as opposed to streaming music from a service. The 2026 Honda Passport has a USB C port only. Honda did away with the older USB type ports for the latest model change overs. I tried a SANDISK 128GB Extreme Fit USB-C thumb drive which did not work, not recognizable by the 2026 Honda Passport infotainment operating system. This one however works fine. It can hold my entire mp3 music library with room to spare. It comes formatted with FAT32 which is required by the Honda Passport infotainment system per the manual. So it does not need to be nor should be reformatted for this application. It fits well in the USB C port and does not stick out too far. It loads somewhat faster than my SAMSUNG FIT Plus 3.1 USB Flash Drives with an adapter. Speed is important with the 2026 Honda Passport since 95% of the time it must reload all the metadata each time the car is restarted. This causes it to lose its place in any playlist, that was playing through, when the car was last turned off. In addition until it reloads everything you can only search by folder name, not artist, song, nor genre, just by folder. Reloading about 50 gigs worth of music metadata into the Honda infotainment system takes about five minutes. This drive only got moderately warm when being written to or read from. It took about 30 minutes to write the 50 gigs worth of music to this drive via a USB 3.1 USB port with a 3.1 USB to USB adapter. I recommend staying with the smaller drive sizes or just not loading them up too much due to how slow the Honda's infotainment system OS is.
Review: This is my Windows install stick. It does that job. - I formatted this 128 GB Samsung Type-C drive as a Windows installer and have used it to set up a PC more than once. That is the whole use case. It shows up reliably in the boot menu. The installer copies without stalling or dropping the drive mid-setup. Type-C is convenient on a modern board; I am not hunting for a USB-A port on the back of the case. 128 GB is more space than a Windows image needs, so the same stick can hold drivers or a second ISO if I want. It is not magic. Speeds depend on the port. For an install USB I care that it is recognized and that the write finishes, not whether it hits the 400 MB/s on the box. Blue plastic, compact, stays on a hook until I need it. I would buy this again for the same job.

A: all USB type C connections and ports are reversible..

while UBC-C connectors and ports is usually used with Gen 3.2 gen 2x1, it is not the only speed standard it can be used for.. (and there are many different standards all having changing similar names.. check wikipedia's articles on usb and specifically usb 3.0 both for charts to show the difference (the first chart on the main usb page isn't fully correct in regards to current naming, see the 3.0 page).. sigh. there are actually four speed standards currently under the 3.2 banner and no, 3.1 or 3.0 as those are now defunct names basically, tho still used in ads) ranging from 20Gbits/s (3.2 gen 2x2) to what was known as both 3.0, 3.1 gen 1 (advertisers will just put 3.1 but it's really 3.0 or current name 3.2 gen 1, they are all the same speed and standard, lol. sigh), and now called 3.2 gen 1x1 (shown as just gen 1 usually) at 5 Gbits/s

and type C can handle them all and much more.. but some can also come in type A, B, and Micro - B connectors as well (3.2 gen 1x1 5Gbits/s, 3.2 gen 2x1 10Gbits/s) but it's the connector of the future and will be as it has a lot of future proofing like HDMI did (which is why you didn't have to change connectors to do 4k, but the cable material might of been substandard to the higher speeds due to tighter tolerances, so still needed to upgrade it but it was still the same connector and could still be used just not get the absolute sharpest of picture possible)

so.. the type - c connector is going to be the standard of the future, it's just going to take some time to introduce it.. there needs to be more and more products using it.. to keep backwards compatibility and older devices functional.. it's been a long time since it was first introduced actually,

the upcoming usb 4 will exclusively use the type C and give 40Gbit/s and 80Gbit/s in transfer speeds.. (as well in another confusing naming screw up, there's also a 20Gbit/s one that's the same speed as 3.2 gen 2x2.. sigh... i mean.. c'mon! tho most probably usb 4 will come to mean 40 and 80gb/s.. and it's also totally compatible with apple's thunderbolt 3 standard apparently.. apple has been forced via a court case or legislation to comply to usb c connections rather than it's proprietary lightning connector and already has USB 4 on several specific high end versions of it's devices since 2020 for added compatibility (fighting the apple monopoly to drain your wallet dry).. but also thunderbolt 4 is coming.. but will use type c I think.. 

it's a mess. it didn't have to be... but it is.. lol.

there are so many usb connections... A, B, micro of a, b and an ab combo plus a mini version of those three. and then there's the type C... (then there's thunderbolt/lightning (very very frightening.. Galileo!) from apple..) but it looks as if type C is gonna phase out a lot of the others eventually.. but probably not really... as you don't need a high speed port for a mouse or keyboard or other simple device when a 3.2 gen 1 (3.0) will suffice (or even a 2.0 which cases and motherboards still provide as well).

A: I doubt a single small ring would work, but I placed rings on a string, also with a USB adapter -- which works well. See video.

**Q: Can you attach a leash to the drive so it can't be lost easily?**
A: There's not any fixture to it that can you can attach a leash to, I'm afraid, other than the USB connector, itself.  And you're right, the biggest concern I have about this little gem is LOSING IT!!  I would try to wrap something around it to do so, but I have been carrying it around loose in my pocket, in the meantime, so I'm being reckless....but it's a great little storage device with a BIG capacity.  Luck.
