Perfect Kitchen Safety Upgrade – GFCI Outlet with USB-A & USB-C That We Actually Use Every Day
When we moved into our house there was no GFCI in the kitchen — the previous owners had just put in a regular outlet with two USB ports, which we loved for charging phones. We finally decided we needed the safety of a real GFCI, and after trying other Leviton products that always worked great, I picked this 15A SmartlockPro Self-Test model with both USB-A and USB-C. Installation was honestly quick and easy (I’m reasonably handy). Flip the breaker, pull the old outlet, keep track of which wires go where, attach them to the new one, push it back in, and screw on the cover plate. Done in under 15 minutes. Six months later my wife and I both completely love it. We use the USB-C port way more than the USB-A and have never had a single issue — fast charging, no overheating, works every time. The little green light in the bottom corner turned out to be a surprisingly nice bonus; it gives just enough soft glow when the kitchen lights are off so you don’t have to flip the big lights on for a quick drink of water at night. Bottom line: This is the best of both worlds — proper GFCI safety plus the USB charging ports we didn’t want to give up. If you need a GFCI in a high-traffic spot like the kitchen (or bathroom/laundry), this one is a no-brainer. Tip: Just label or take a quick photo of your wires before you disconnect the old outlet so everything goes back exactly where it belongs.

No more power bricks
I installed this in my kitchen and I love not having to keep power bricks around. It works great, but for other devices it will not charge as fast as a high wattage charger. However, for phones and small electronics it’s great!

It's BIG
I bought these for our new kitchen, and they are REALLY cramped in the boxes. The boxes are adjustable and we were able to make them fit with a box extender, but I can imagine they might not work in all boxes, particularly small or cramped one. I LOVE to use them though. They're super handy if you need to charge up something via USB quick without needing a separate charger. Just make sure you have enough room! Otherwise the GFCI works just like regular GFCIs. You can still use them to provide GFCI protection to other outlets as well, although of course tripping one will trip the others.

Deeper Box Required
My disclaimer: hire an electrician Max Watts 15 on USB-C Max Watts 9 on USB-A Line = wires from breaker or where power is supplied Load = power supplied to other receptacles (GFCI trips will terminate power to the other receptacles) Model: GUAC1 (15 amps 120 volts) Extremely reputable brand. The wires are as thick as the 12 gauge wires. most complaints were about the size of the junction box due to the deep receptacle. This was my biggest complaint as well. You have an irregularly deep receptacle and five thick wires coming out of the back. I needed extra space to fit my J-Box. I ended up trimming back wires and capping the ones I didn’t need to make the receptacle fit. Got the receptacle installed after two attempts but I could spend a little more time on it to make a perfect fit… I wouldn’t buy this again unless it drops to $20. The receptacle is way too deep. I bought it for $33 on sale.

Save money with this GFCI over your hardware store
Lower cost with the same specs and trip rating of the ones we buy in the hardware store, no complaints here. It looks good in my wall box, the fact that you can charge on USB-A, USB-C, and out of an outlet makes it quite versatile. I cannot speak to its durability as it doesn't really get plugged and unplugged often, but I will say that it functions exactly as it should and I'm quite happy saving money over a trip to my hardware store.

Love it
Needed something with usb for the bathroom. Was going to use a power strip with usb ports but this is way better. Works great and like that there's 2 styles of usb connections

Huge and difficult to cram into a box with standard wire nuts
Looks good and does what it's supposed to do. 2 stars off for the following.... Why only provide 2 wire nuts when you may need 5 to complete your install? Seems like a major oversight or cost saving idea that doesn't translate. Not that wire nuts are going to help you as this thing is massive and barely fits in a standard outlet box. Had to head to Home Depot to get some Wago 221 wire lever nuts to reduce the footprint of wiring in the box and this still barely fit even after cutting back the majority of the included wiring already attached to this. Took way too long to install compared to what the installation should have taken. Just very cumbersome to get completed but works as expected thus far.

It's chonky...
This thing is CHONKY. Very deep. I was installing this in a receptacle box from 1980. Those boxes were TINY, and considering it had 3 Romex wires already in there, all 12 gauge, there was no way I could fit this thing in that box. So I ended up getting a 2 gang box, and used Wago wire nuts to take up as little space as possible. Once I had all that in place, it was super easy to install. It comes with its own wires sticking out, which are easy to use with a wire nut, but less convenient (in my opinion) than just using the traditional screw terminal. USB C charging speed is very fast (by my standards) and I'm quite satisfied with the product overall. It's kinda spendy, but worth doing if you need both USB and GFCI protection in one device. Important: The USB C is not powerful enough to charge a laptop. I knew this already, just warning you not to make a mistake. If you need to charge a laptop, get one that offers 60w charging. Cheers.

Great for topping up device charges while showering or getting ready!
Replaced a bathroom GFCI with this one, it's nice having the charge ports there for us and our guests to charge phones, toothbrushes and gadgets while showering and getting ready.

Needs a Deep Box!
Pros: Good instructions, well made Cons: Requires a deep electrical box so check yours first before ordering. Carton states extra deep box Pictures showing my original GFI vs the new one. Though wrongly measuring the depth (from the front surface) you can see the difference is a touch over a 1/2 inch. I don't know if my box is an extra deep type; the 5 marrette connectors took up space making it a struggle to fit it all back in with nothing to spare. Took away a star because it's made in China and the size should be reduced.
