Although, I live in the dessert, and don't ever plan on getting colder than 20°. **Q: Can I use this for general rust protection, i.e. to replace Boeshield (a rust inhibitor) for my tools?** A: I believe you can as it has worked for me so far. However, I don't know if I would use it for tools as it's primary purpose is as a lubricant. This is where it shines. It seems a bit expensive to use soley as a rust inhibitor. **Q: I've heard them claim this is the official product used by the United States Marines, any Marines on here that can confirm? I use the slip 2000 gun lube for all my pistols. I've tried different greases. I am from the analog age, when cleaning a gun was Hoppes #9, some patches, whatever oil the gun shop had. There is a plethora of product choices available today for cleaning lubricating and protecting your gun investments. I have used a bunch of them, and I cannot really say one was way better than another. If you look on the internet for best gun oils this one usually appears on the list somewhere. It seems to clean stuff off well, it is not too thin or too thick it seems to penetrate, and it does a good job at lubricating.
