Review: LIberated me from my home office. - I work from home, and I like to work on my backyard deck during the warmer months in the Northeast. Unfortunately, last year we had to remove the tree that had provided shade for the deck. The loss of shade made it very difficult to work outside, as there is too much glare on my laptop's screen, even with a patio umbrella over the deck's table. At first, I went the cheapo-cheapo route by making a box out of black foam board which I bought for ten bucks. This didn't work out as well as I had hoped, as it didn't provide enough shade for the screen, and glare was still a problem. I decided to give the Pixel Sunscreen a whirl, and I'm really glad I did. When folded up, the Pixel Sunscreen is very compact - I can fit it the middle pocket of my laptop backpack, so I can take it anywhere I bring my laptop, a definite plus. Unfolded, it easily accommodates my ThinkPad 15.6" laptop. The side flaps make it easy to route the charging cable, should that be necessary. The hood is deep enough to remove virtually all the glare from the screen. I have sat for hours, from morning sun through noon time sun and into afternoon sun, without any issues with glare. With warm weather being at a premium where I live, I hated being stuck inside the house on beautiful spring and summer days. Now, that is no longer an issue - and my dog, who also prefers to be outdoors, has been the beneficiary of this as well. The Pixel Sunscreen is very well constructed, and I am sure that as long as I take good care of it, it will last many years. My one concern when ordering it was that it might be difficult to fold back up into a nice tight circle - but my concern was misplaced. It is very easy to fold it up into a compact package. There is even a pictorial folding guide on the bottom surface, including markers for thumb placement. Initially, I thought the asking price for the Pixel Sunscreen was a bit high, but after using it for some time, it has proven itself to be worth every cent. I've been shooting tethered on location since the late 90's (seriously!) and I have carted double monitors and generators out to Death Valley, granite quarries, sky scrapers and race tracks. All the while bringing a giant duvateen blanket with me to throw over my head so my client and I could see the image on a real screen. Once Apple had a laptop that was fast enough to replace a tower I switched and have never looked back. I've tried blankets, shades and a those stupid eye snorkel things and this is, hands down, the nicest thing you can put your laptop into. It has a "curtain" in a pocket on top that hangs down from the front and will completely block off the laptop from extraneous light. It has non slip sticky stuff so the laptop doesn't slide in it's little tent. It has openings on the side for drives and tether cords and pockets inside for gray cards and hard drives. It's very well thought out and fully worth the price.
