It's a cute little shotgun with a compact and slim design, doesn't weigh your camera down much at all. If you're looking to put this microphone on a stand or have it handheld, I certainly recommend having a shielded TRS cable as this thing picks up everything. The included deadcat also exceeded my expectations; it eliminates wind noise well without compromising the audio quality, only attenuating very high frequency sound. Overall, this microphone is a good quality, highly portable, and cost-effective solution for general recording. It's not exactly podcast grade, but if you need something that beats your camera's integrated microphone, the VXR10 knocks it out of the park.

As a beginner filmmaker, I’ve been making short films with my friends and family, and I needed a reliable mic to improve my audio quality. I’ve been using this shotgun mic on my Canon 90D, and it’s been a great starting point for me. While it's definitely not professional-grade audio, especially in noisy environments, for the price, it’s a solid entry-level option. It’s easy to set up and works well for basic filming needs. The sound quality is clear enough for most of my videos, and it’s made a noticeable difference compared to using the built-in mic on the camera. For anyone just starting out and on a budget, this mic is a great way to improve your audio without breaking the bank. It’s a good balance of performance and affordability, and it’s been a great addition to my gear collection as I continue learning and growing in filmmaking!

There are much (much much much) better mics out there. I got this trying to be budget conscious, but in the end I think I'd rather pay more for a higher quality product. Don't get me wrong, it does what it's supposed to do, It's very directional, it's fairly crisp, but the range is small, and it really doesn't sound that much better than the media mod's mic on my gopro, but it does sound just better enough to us it. The big plus is that because it's so directional it I'm not nearly as concerned about getting good audio in a noisy environment. The build quality seems fine, and it comes with 2 mounts (making me question their durability) 2 chords (1 3-ring and 1 2-ring) a big fat dead cat (that is too big to stay out of the frame when mounted to the top of a gopro, and sometimes the side) and a carrying case (bag). This is ok for the entry level that it's made for, but now that I've used it a bit I feel that it would've been better to invest in something a little better right away, because I know I'll be spending the money on a better soon enough. I'm giving it 4 stars because in the end the price is right, but that is also the problem with it.

Excellent quality, sound is great on my recordings. Easy to connect

I got this product earlier than I thought I was going to get it. I immediately brought the package inside and opened it up with excitement! When I opened it up I saw the wind guard and how fluffy it looked. When I pulled it out of the packaging I was really surprised on how high quality the wind guard felt, I was expecting something very flimsy and almost like a cloth, but it wasn’t, it was nice that felt Solid to the touch, It felt very very high-quality! It came with two cords , one for your phone, and one for your camera. It also came with a little bag to keep your microphone in, and a little stand thing that you can put on your tripod or on the top of your camera. I was very pleased about how it looked like it was high-quality. I plugged it into my phone and immediately it picked up the microphone. I started recording a video and I held it close to my mouth then pulled it away Little by little,To see how far away the microphone had to be before it could not pick up my voice, and how far it would have to be before it starts picking up background noise.I then put the microphone to the side of my mouth and did the same thing. When I played it back The video, I did hear a little hissing sound, which was not bad, but you could notice it. Other than that it definitely made my voice sound more professional. I could not tell A big difference in sound when I was pulling the microphone away from my mouth from the front. I could tell as I pulled the microphone further away from my mouth from the side Though, My voice started fading away, which is good because that means that it cancels out the noise that is coming from around you, and that it focuses on the noise coming from in front of it only. I would definitely recommend this microphone to someone who wants to get a microphone that works just as good as a ROAD Maybe even better in my opinion. yet it’s half the cost.

As a budding content creator, I was thrilled to get my hands on the Movo VXR10 Universal Shotgun Mic. I had high hopes that this microphone would elevate the audio quality of my videos shot on my Canon EOS Rebel SL3. After using it extensively for both indoor and outdoor shoots, I wanted to share my experience, particularly with the static issues I encountered. Setup and First Impressions: Unboxing the Movo VXR10 was exciting. The packaging was sleek and professional, and the mic comes with a decent array of accessories: a shock mount, a deadcat windscreen, and a carrying case. The mic itself has a solid build, feeling robust yet lightweight. It feels great to hold, and I appreciated how easy it was to attach to my camera. Setting up the mic was straightforward. It connects via a 3.5mm TRS cable, which was compatible with my Rebel SL3 right out of the box. The inclusion of the TRRS adapter for smartphones is a nice touch, making this a versatile choice for those who might want to use it with their iPhone or Android devices in the future. Initial Use and Audio Quality: The first few recordings went relatively well. I noticed a significant improvement in audio quality compared to the built-in microphone on my DSLR. The directional pickup pattern did help isolate sound nicely, and the deadcat windscreen proved effective against light wind noise when filming outdoors. However, this is where things began to take a turn. During post-production, I was shocked to discover that my recordings were plagued with a crazy amount of static. It was frustrating, to say the least. The static was loud enough to overshadow dialogue and any ambient sounds I was trying to capture. *Troubleshooting: At first, I thought it might have been a compatibility issue with my camera. I did some research online and discovered that many user reviews had reported similar issues with static on various camera models, including the Canon EOS range. I tried a few different troubleshooting steps: Check Connections: I ensured that the microphone was properly connected to the mic input on my camera. Sometimes, a loose connection can lead to interference. Battery Power: The VXR10 is powered by the camera, so there shouldn’t be any battery issues. However, I did check my camera’s battery level just to be safe. Wiring Issues: I carefully examined the cable for any signs of wear or damage. In fact, I even tried a different TRS cable to rule out a faulty cable causing the static. Different Settings: I fiddled with different audio settings on my camera to see if adjustments would help alleviate the static issue. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to make a significant difference. The Final Verdict: Despite my initial excitement, the Movo VXR10 left me quite disappointed. While it was effortless to set up and showed promise with improved audio directionality, the consistent static issue when connected to my Canon EOS Rebel SL3 was a dealbreaker. It’s worth noting that static and interference can sometimes be specific to particular camera models or even particular units of the mic itself. Other users with different camera setups may have had a better experience, but my journey with this product was far from perfect. If you’re considering the Movo VXR10, I would recommend doing a bit of research to ensure compatibility with your specific camera. Ideally, testing it out before committing would be the best route to avoid potential frustrations. I purchased the Movo VXR10, LPM100, & VXR50 (Smartphone Video Rig Kit V7) to compare. The VXR10 was a slight improvement over the iPhoneXS internal microphone but for me, that small improvement is not worth the price and hassle of using the VXR10 while mobile. For recordings using a tripod, the sounds was an improvement since the iPhone's mic is pointed perpendicular to the subject while the VXR10 (like most external mics) is pointed directly to the subject. This was the only mono (non stereo) mic in my comparison although many professionals believe stereo sound is not required for vlogging or youtube. The mic was packaged well and looks durable. I would easily pick this mic over the LPM100. If cost was a large factor, I would also pick this over the VXR50. The LPM100 was my least favorite. The audio sounded artificial, like listening to speakers that are out of phase—if you close your eyes and listen, none of the sounds can be located—it’s all mish-mashed and ends up sounding like a blob. This flaw was enough for me to reject the LPM100. The second flaw was the lighting plug: while it did seat in my iPhoneXS with a medium thickness case, it did not feel secure, and if I was moving about, I would constantly worry that it would fall off, or if accidentally knocked around that it might break off. I don't think this is Movo's fault, just inherent in this kind of connection. I doubt modestly larger phone cases would allow the lighting plug to seat properly. The VXR50 (Smartphone Video Rig Kit V7) sounded the best although I would not say it's a slam dunk over the other two or even the iPhoneXS built-in mic… but it was better especially since the mic can be pointed to the subject unlike the iPhone's internal mic. The VXR50 appears well made and solid; it's also the longest of all three but is also the only that requires a battery which will undoubtedly go dead when it's most needed. I did not find this mic as a standalone product but only as part of the V7 kit. The bluetooth remote control included with the kit felt solid and worked very well with the iPhoneXS but needs to be manually paired every time the remote is turned on. The light was not useful—it has three brightness settings but feels like a flashlight pointed at my face so it was more annoying than an enhancement. The clamping phone holder looks nice and is capable of holding the iPhoneXS but anything bigger will either not fit or not feel secure. Everything comes in a nice zippered semi-hard case which I always appreciate even if I repurpose it for another use. I did not find the other accessories useful but maybe you will. The combined mic, remote, and holder make the price reasonable and I’m happy enough with this kit, that I will be keeping it. The attached video demonstrates the sound. All recordings were done on the same day, in the same environment, and at the same distance. The audio has not been enhanced or adjusted for the video (no level boosts/cuts). The finger snaps are for testing the stereo separation of the mics. All equipment was purchased on Amazon at the same time.

This review is sort of a preliminerary mini review for The Movo VXR10 Universal Video Microphone as I have not given it a full run for a long time or put it through the kind of tests I would like to. However when I opened the box and took it out the first thing that jumped at me was the design. Its a perfect little shotgun Mic. The dead cat is fuzzy and fits snug agaisnt the mic. The mic has a nice light weight to it so as not to take up too much space and will not weigh down a day pack or any other pack. Toss it in and go. For the newer Cell phones you will need a 3.5 mm to lightening adapter ( no biggie) - It did come with an extra cable which I thought was nice to throw in to the box. so if one breaks or gets lost- there is a backup. Good thinking and sales MOVO. Upon first uses of this little shotgun mic- I noticed imediately that it did what I wanted it for. It took away the backround hiss the built in mic on the iphone 7 makes when in video record mode. ( awful Apple Iphone 7 MICS from what I hear have been a common con- tisk tisk apple- shame on you for making exception products that have overlooked flaws and we consumers spend so much money on your products only to wind up getting the dirty end of the stick because we have to then spend more money on better phones with upgraded tech.- TISK TISK) Anyway I digress. Did a little video with my son at a Musik festival and it performed wonderfully. Nice crisp vocal recording even though the backround music was loud it did came out just as good as my sons words. All in all this product was a worthwhile investment so far. I have one more test I will be putting it through at somepoint soon. which is why at this time I only gave it three stars for noise cancelling. But in the meantime. I love the quality of this product. Definitely happy with it. and glad I did not spend the same amount on the Rode model of the simlar product. Un ottimo acquisto per registrare video con un audio decente. La copertura pelosina garantisce una buona qualità in caso di vento. E' venduto con due cavetti, uno per essere collegato al microfono della videocamera, una per un utilizzo su smartphone. Lo porto sempre in viaggio in me, è compatto e molto leggero e si monta velocemente. Ha una piccola slitta che consente di essere agganciata alla piastra del flash a slitta o se si preferisce su un treppiede piccolino.
