Review: Keep an EMERGENCY BOTTLE to hand! - I LOVE this stuff and wish I'd known about it years ago. We've all been there. We've bought something new and washed it once or twice separately to ensure that it won't stain other laundry and then it just never stops shedding colour! Colour catchers only help so much whilst the vibrant patterns you were drawn to in the first place begin to look drab. It's depressing. This fixes the problem provided that you notice it soon enough. I'm so grateful and will now always keep an emergency bottle in the linen cupboard. Do consult the RIT website for more details than what are on the bottle as they explain very clearly how to deal with delicate fabrics and the pros and cons of the different methods of application. NB the site is in "American," so they a priori assume a top loader washing machine. Front loaders are called HE (high-efficiency) machines. Go forth and buy Indian block prints with confidence!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be use on upholstery fabric?**
A: The fabric would have to be washable, but I would check with where you got the fabric and then see if you can find out at the Rit website.

**Q: Can this be used in top load washing machines for colors to stay longer on clothes. If so how much, can i still add to cold water**
A: I have a top load washer and add the whole bottle of dye + whole bottle of fixative.  I use only the water temp suggested on label.  When I am done dying I run the washer with old towels and 1 cup oxy detergent with bleach to clean the tub.  I then do a second rise and spin only.  I dye faded navy and black cotton shorts and last time dyed light grey towel with hot pink dye and they came out the muted color I wanted of pink.  Good luck, I have been dying clothes in the washer for years and it always best to wash those items by themselves the 1st time after dyed in case there is a reside of dye left in the fabric.  The hot pink did turn the old towels a pink shade, so I was glad I did that.

**Q: I bought a new wool rug.  when i went to steam clean it, the dyes started coming up.  can i use this product to fix the dyes on my wool rug?**
A: If the dyes started to run with steam cleaning, then I would hesitate putting any liquid on the rug. If you think the rug is already damaged by the steam, it wouldn't hurt to try a small spot to see if the fixative can help salvage it. Sorry, that's the best I can come up with for you.

**Q: The final instructions say "wash in warm water with a mild detergent, rinse and dry". Can I use washing machine with warm water and dryer for this?**
A: I used my washing machine and then dryer for the final steps.  Turned out fine.

Watched the video of a young lady changing the colour of a chair looked easy so had ago, mixed the dye as required applied with a brush chose a sunny day, looked at the BBC weather forecast sunny for next couple of days. put the armchair out to dry, clouds appeared then rain but managed to put the chair under cover. over the next days managed to dry the chair and applied the fixer no good with brush or roller. The young lady was in sunny California.
