How far can the phone be from the coil?

Works OK with my Galaxy s22 u with a case that adds 1.5 to 2 mm thickness, but finicky with the wife's thicker case. Her phone did not work well with any of the commonly available charge pads and I thought not having the plastic cover layer would help, but not reliably. And she refuses to change to a practible cover.

Can I simply wire this to 12V? (by soldering)

I did and it works. I used the recommendation of 12v 1.5A power supply.

Solid little charger for projects!

Amazing little guy. Nice small size and self contained. Works reliabily through a but of plastic. Little odd to have the capacitor sticking out the side but it's not a huge deal.

Works as expected without issue

It works as advertised without problem, it is only the transmitter side of the duo, so you need to order a receiver if this is not simply to replace a transmitter unit. Also doesn't come with a charger cord or block, so will need a power block and usb-c cord to power it.

Works but no instructions and wires are short

No instructions and the wires connecting the usb to the coil are super short. I had to extend them which worked but wasn't exactly easy. The thing works though and was more durable to work with than I expected.
