Do these pellets sink?

They do not sink easily, so I soak them in a sm. dish (w/tank water.) My large goldfish LOVE them!

How large does a fish need to be to be considered “medium” or “large”?

Look at the size of your fish’s eyes, and mouth. Outside of the Bubble Eye varieties, in general a goldfish can open its mouth large enough to inhale a food bit the size of its own eye. This varies with individual types; I have some 7 year old Comets who can easily inhale the large sinking wafers I feed my Plecostomus, while the Fantails like our 4” Moor have no problems with these “medium” pellets whereas the newest tank additions (15 cent feeder size) can’t open their wee mouths wide enough to eat “medium” pellets.
