has anyone used this to dry boxing gloves? if so how well did it work?

It works pretty well. My son is an MMA fighter and practices with boxing (not MMA) gloves. He uses the machine to dry them out (as well as three pairs of tennis shoes daily). The gloves take a bit longer, partly because I think they're capable of absorbing more liquid and partly because there tends to be less air circulation in the gloves than in a pair of shoes. So it works; it's much better than not doing anything. It just takes longer than with shoes. (A full cycle is 120 minutes, which is enough to dry most shoes, but it takes somewhat longer for boxing gloves.)

Does this have an "always-on" function or is it only run off of a timer?

it only has a timer, but , it can be set for 120 minutes.

Does this use ozone technology?

Nope, just hot air. Ozone would probably damage the plastic.

Is this safe and effective for neoprene surf booties?

It blows warm air into the boots for a preset amount of time... I didn’t measure the temp of the air but I can say that I’ve used this device to dry my work boots... and it works great as a way to warm them up on a cold winter morning as a way to keep my toes warm on the drive to work.... so it’s not hot enough to burn my feet... so I’m guessing if the melting temp of your surf boots is lower than human flesh don’t do it...
