I don't have a tape measure nearby but I stood up next to it and based on my own height I would guess it's about 67" or 68"

what is the diameter of the shaft i need 3/8" - 1/2" ?

well, the thickness of the shaft is 5/8",,,, but the actual diameter (wrapping a cord around the shaft and then measuring the length of cord) is almost 2 3/4 inches
