Solution for "Forbidden Router"
4 ports, each 2.5 GbE. These works fine in Linux, and hence in Proxmox. I have two of these cards running behind a pfSense virtualized router, and haven't noticed any performance or heat problems. Do make sure you have ventilation for the card, but I haven't noticed this card running especially hot. 2.5 GbE is the new 1 GbE in 2025, and should be the minimum now for household networks, especially if you want to take advantage of the new higher WiFi speeds. It's a good add-on to an existing desktop that might hold you off from replacing it for another year or two. With four ports, you could also forgo a router, and wire point to point if that meets your requirements.

Itโs not bad just use with intel things
It could use a little more due to it having conflict with certain hardware

Tried extensively, could not get working on PFsense or OPNsense
Some reviewers said they got it working. I'm beginning to think I had a broken card, but I spent HOURS trying literally everything on OPNsense and PFsense and this thing would not work. This was running in a VM. I tried so many things. I got interfaces to detect but all kinds of things wouldn't work past that. It might work on physical hardware, but I'd avoid this for VM use.

Did Not Work With Linux Server OS
This card did not work with the Linux server build that I intended to use it for, just could not ever get it to recognize the hardware. Saving it for an upcoming Windows server build which should not be an issue for this chipset.

The best option for quad multigigabit nic
pros its quiet, consumes very little power, fanless. cons the top port is inaccessible in some sff ports. realtek is not supported for esxi, but this is also true of the 2.5 gbe intel chipset that is out there. If you need several ports for virtualisation and pass through, this will work in proxmox, windows server, and any other linux virtualisation host aside from esxi.

Impossible to swap to low profile bracket
(Quad 2.5ghz version) The bracket is not as pictured. The screws are captive and there is no way to remove standard bracket without breaking something.

Works great in my proxmox/opnsense environment. I am now moving my opnsense to a new machine soon but I lost my SFF bracket, any idea how I can get a replacement?
