I bought this watch because I understood that it was manufactured and assembled in Japan with a series number of SRBP46j1. The "j" in the series indicating the watch was made and assembled in Japan. However, I was sent a watch with a case number of 4R35-01T0. Nowhere on the watch are the series numbers I expected to get for the premium price I paid. So the question is: How do I know I received the Japanese quality I expected? Made in Japan but assembled in Indonesia or Manila or Taiwan is not what I'm paying for and could easily have chosen the cheaper watch that looks exactly the same for $40 less. Can anyone shed light on this issue?UPDATE: Forget where it was made, it does not perform as advertised. Although self winding (a mechanical function of design) IT WILL NOT last for the advertised 40hrs. I wind it every morning and evening and if I forget, it stops by evening or noon the next day (@18hrs). As for accuracy it is "ho-hum" at best. Is reset the time by a minute or two every 2 days. About right for a cheap wind up watch. Considering the $400+ price tag, I would have expected a lot more. Shame on Seiko and shame on me for thinking I had a quality piece. If you are considering this watch as a gift BEWARE.

This watch is simply stunning! I receive compliments every time I wear it. So far the time seems very accurate, and holds a charge for a little over a day when not being worn. I am totally satisfied with this purchase.

Every aspect of this watch shrieks "quality." From the high quality deployment band to the hour markers and the display back that lets you see the beautiful movement. This has all the elements of a $10,000+ watch at a tiny fraction of the cost. Hard not to love that recipe.

The watch is very nice the only problem is that is running late 5 minutes I set it up on time and tow weeks later is behind 5 minutes again.
