I also had this bag stuffed to the brim and was able to fit it under the seat in front of me on a United flight (which had less storage space than my Alaskan flight). I had doubts about it being the size advertised too, but ran the risk anyway 😅 You should be able to fit it as a personal item no problem. **Q: will this backpack fit on a plus person?** A: If you mean plus size person. Yes it will. My Husband and myself are larger and wore this book bag with no issues. The straps are thick and Adjustable **Q: If you put a pair of shoes in the shoe slot, does it take up room in the other area where you can pack clothes?** A: Yes it will. There’s plenty of pockets and space for everything you need on hand, and still small enough to take as a carry on! I was able to stuff it until it was full, and the zippers NEVER once looked like they were gonna break. The waterproof compartment really came in handy, so that’s a bonus! The shoe compartment is also very spacious. I didn’t use the charging port since I don’t have a power bank anyway, but I’m sure it’d be useful!The only thing I’d change about it is the side pocket, as it was too small to fit my water bottle. Luckily, I was able to hook it to the side clips anyway, so no big deal!For the price, I was NOT expecting to receive something this high quality.
