Soapmaking Additive
I purchased as a natural colorant for soapmaking. It is supposed to be a dark purple color. It is actually a dark grey/purple. I will work on mixing with other colorants to get a better purple color. Maybe a different brand of alkanet root would bring a different purple outcome.

Great color
I love this for all it's health benefits and natural colorant. Easy to use definitely reccomend!

Doesn’t work for CP soap.
Supposed to make CP soap blue/purple. I got brown. Ick! Tried twice.

Real alkanet
I used this for cold process soap and didn't so a long oil infusion for the color like you're supposed to. I heated the oil and Alkanet on the stove for an hour and the oil turned blood red. When added to the soap it turned like a teal gray color and when the soap set it was purple. So cool!
