we purchased the MidWest Homes for Pets Wire Mesh Pet Safety Gate to keep both my toddler and dog safely contained, and it has been fantastic! The gate is sturdy and well-made, with the natural wood and white mesh blending in nicely with our home décor. It’s super easy to install with the pressure mount design, and I love that it expands to fit different doorways. At 24 inches tall, it’s the perfect height to keep my curious toddler and energetic dog from wandering, but still low enough to step over easily. Overall, it’s been a great solution for keeping everyone safe, and I highly recommend it!

I am extremely (maybe even surprisingly) pleased with how well this is working for me. I was looking for something pressure mounting (absolutely not permanent on the wall) , not too expensive (around 60$), and tall enough to restrain my two cats (my townhome has basically no doors across 3 floors). I gotta say that this one works great. It is very easy to mount once you understand the latching mechanism, it locks sturdily and it stays in place even though my cats try to bump in it. It's both easy to open and remove once you don't need it anymore. Also, it well adapts to various widths. Cavieat: Cats will try to climb it. Whether they will succeed is not really the point. I'd be more concerned about their safety if they get a pawn stuck in the net. I wouldn't use it overnight when I am not there to keep an eye on them. I'd say that it's a great product if you need to temporarily restrain a pet while you are around.

Overall these are great for your taller pets, we bought two for our German Shepard for when we were at work while he was still a pup and didn't want him to get into anything or accidents on the carpet. These worked great and were very secure, adjusting and latching was simple and easy. The gates are mostly made of "wood" and seemed sturdy enough, we never set the tightness too strong to cause stress on the parts to break but one of the gates adjustment bars snapped and made it completely useless. The other gate is holding out great, though we rarely use it now that our dogs are grown and can be trusted alone in the house. These aren't bad products by any stretch, but I would caution on over tightening or on the adjustment bars longevity. Good buy overall

OK Quick review! I’ve been reading reviews saying this breaks the first time it’s used. It’s not a pressure-mounted gate—that may be part of why it’s failing. It’s also made from fairly cheap pine, so it isn’t built to take that kind of pressure. It uses an entirely different hanging system. Before installing it, I checked it very carefully for any splits, knots, or obvious defects—especially around the staples—where it might fail. A lot of the review photos were actually really helpful for that, so thank you to the people who posted them. That said, many of the reviews showing breakage also show the gate being used without the cups installed in the wall. IF YOU TRY TO PRESSURE MOUNT IT WITHOUT THE CUPS OR USE IT FOR LARGE OR AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS THAT WANT OUT, IT'S GOING TO FAIL. It isn’t designed like a shower curtain rod, a tension-mounted gate, or the kind of baby gates you may be used to that push outward to stay in place. The mounting system is a cup-and-disc setup. The cups attach to the wall using an adhesive pad, plus a screw through the center for reinforcement. Each cup is roughly 1 7/8 inches across and about 1/4 inch deep. The gate itself has round rubber discs fixed to the frame. Each disc is roughly 7/8 inch in diameter and about 1/2 inch thick. The cups are shallower, and the discs sit down into them. So the gate is essentially hanging in place—the discs rest inside the cups—rather than being wedged outward with pressure. There are four cups on each side with matching discs on the gate. The discs look like the same kind used on pressure-mounted gates, which makes it easy to assume that’s how it works—but it isn’t. This is a hang-in-place system, not a tension system. If you’re dealing with climbers, one really smart idea I saw was adding a thin sheet of plexiglass inside the gate to block the grid. You set the gate up, measure the inside, cut a piece to fit, and then slide it in so it sits in front of the grid. As long as the grid is exposed, they will climb it, so the goal is to cover it. The grid openings are 1.5-inch squares, which makes them easy for kittens to climb, so adding something smooth like plexiglass solves that. You could probably do the same thing with cookie sheets or very thin plywood, like 1/4-inch plywood. With kittens, you don’t need to cover the entire height—just a couple of feet is enough either to stop them from getting started climbing at the bottom, or to block them once they’ve started by placing it mid-height. You can mount it a few different ways—slide it in, use removable zip ties, or hang it with S-hooks or even carabiners so you can move it up and down as needed. You could even try cookie sheets first to see if that works before cutting anything. Plexiglass makes the most sense if you're trying to introduce animals. You can usually have it cut locally at a hardware or specialty store, and have them also drill the holes for you—cutting and drilling plexiglass is a skill, and unless you’re experienced, it’s not something you want to try just for this. If you’re curious why, just look up YouTube videos of people trying to cut and drill it. Hanging it at mid-height works well for introductions because the animals can see, smell, and touch each other through the lower portion while having their climb interrupted midway by the plexiglass. I’m going to try Command strips on the cups so I can move the gate around without damaging surfaces. For context, I’m using this to keep my adult cats out of an area where I’m using oil-based primer, leveling compound, and other things I don’t want them walking through. Mine aren’t climbers—I just need to discourage them long enough for things to dry. For what it is—introducing animals or blocking off a work area—it’s the cheapest, most effective tall gate I could find. Construction-wise, it’s stapled together, so no—it’s not super robust. If you’re trying to keep a large or aggressive animal contained, this isn’t going to work—it’s not what it’s made for. The directions say NOT to use it for children, and I agree—this would be DANGEROUS (and probably ineffective) to use with a child. It’s actually designed pretty cleverly. The cup system allows it to work in spaces that aren’t perfectly plumb (not straight up and down). My walls angle slightly in a V, and this accommodates that really well. I’ll update if I run into any issues. 04-17-26 - Update - Wowzer!! The command strips are working like a charm. No holes in the 2 bookcases that make up this opening. The gate stayed up even when one tried to walk across it! I had no kitty prints in the primer!! Now I just gotta do the leveling compound!! Pro tip for install with screws or command strips - Use small post-it page markers (1/2" x 2" approx) under the discs so you know exactly where you want to place your strips/screw to hold the cups. For screws you can just mark the post-it & drill thru it. For the command strips replace the post-its with the strip

It takes forever to be delivered .i have one already and it’s nice , one of the easiest gates to open and love the height. But like I said, I’m still waiting for the second one and they keep changing the date so if you want it, you better order it a month ahead of time.

Bought this gate a while back and love the push button locking mechanism plus the great height and width. Only giving it 3 stars this time because I’ve tried to order a second gate twice and each time the gate has arrived broken in a perfectly fine box. The issue is the screw that attaches one of the clips to the wood has splintered off a jagged piece or caused such a crack in the wood that it’s only a matter of time before it also splinters off. Giving it a third try and will hope this next gate is undamaged.

Got a couple cats that like chewing through certain types of power cables so we gotta keep 'em out of the gaming room with the computers, consoles, and all that jazz. this gate has worked perfectly. one tried and it worked perfectly as he couldn't make it over. we also keep a spray bottle to enforce the idea when they are looking at it comes out of the box ready to go, you just choose the groove on the wood crossbar that determines the width then you wiggle it into the door frame definitely more of a pain than opening/closing a door but it sucked never being able to leave the door open. This has solved that completely. it is kinda sturdy but can't really bear any weight and the wood crossbar is pretty fragile. This thing has no security features whatsoever. It's just a gate good enough to stop small pets. Had to train the family to be gentle with it when wiggling it in and out of the door each time it's the height that closed the deal for me, it is the tallest gate I could find on amazon that was flexible and easy to move

This gate was a STEAL at what I paid! It works perfectly in the doorway I wanted it for, and even my fence-hopping hound respects it. It's not super sturdily made compared to what I might have made myself, but it compares well to a child baby gate, just much taller with wire mesh instead of plastic. It's making having visitors much easier on my undisciplined hound girl who was a rescue and still can't get it through her head that she shouldn't jump on visitors even if the let her get away with it. Lol Now instead of being forced to crate her, she can just be in the next room and watch from the doorway with my sweet male who is perfectly behaved but scares some silly folks anyway just because he's a Pittie. My best boy is an angel who would sit quietly in the doorway to the next room without the gate, but now my girl is finally learning to do it, too!

This product did exactly what it was intended to do. And worked very well. As I was a whelping foster and I needed to separate my dogs from the whelping room and later the puppies. Although, it was great product; I failed to think that puppies chew. Yes, sadly one of my bars has been chewed. This of course is not the product’s fault. But, as my own dogs are not chewers it wasn’t something I considered in advance.

Simple setup, make sure of your measurements before buying! Using this to keep cats out of the room and so far it’s great and sturdy.
