My third title on PCB design/production... best so far
This is my third title on PCB design/production. It's the best so far. The book targets mainly the hobbyists, such as myself. I read this in my kindle. I was a bit skeptical in the beginning, since some tutorial oriented books gets all messed-up on a kindle, but this was not the case. I like the step-by-step approach of the book. I finally did my own PCB design and even though is somewhat more complex than the samples on the book, I found myself returning to the book to find some hints. As it ever happens with software oriented tutorials, the book might get dated in terms of the current version of the EAGLE software. Indeed, some of the menus and options described in the book has moved around, but the contents, the EAGLE practice and the methodology still stands.

Simon's writing style is relaxed and easy to read
There will come a time in your life when you want to take your projects off a breadboard or stripboard and onto a real PCB. It is true that there are many videos on how to do this however sometimes you need a guide that explains what you need to use, do, and in what order to do it to turn a schematic into a PCB. This book does exactly that. After running through the example projects you will be able to create through-hole and SMD boards and have the files to send off for manufacturing. Simon's writing style is relaxed and easy to read, for the hobbyist or interested beginner. Don't waste your time hunting around for free guides or piecing together information from multiple websites or listening to awful YouTube videos - just buy this book and start making.

Very good!
I own most of Dr. Monk’s books and appreciate his clear writing style and depth. I worked through the bulk of the book over a couple of days after receiving my order and am happy to report that I am now reasonably fluent with Eagle. 20 bucks is a modest price to pay for the many hours I would have lost mucking around on the internet to try to develop a similar level of fluency.I only have two small quibbles:1. There seems to be a step missing in the section on importing a new libraries. Unlike the Arduino environment, you evidently need to visit the Library…Use menu for the parts to show up in the schematic view after copying them to the appropriate directory. I assume this may be a change with the newest version of Eagle.2. Given the highly-detailed information on using Eagle, it would have been nice to have more detail relating to making PCBs at home. I’ve made a few PCBs and would have appreciated following a more detailed walk-through involving the two DIY approaches he discusses in Chapter 6. There are only three sentences devoted to toner transfer and just a couple of paragraphs relating to photo etching. Even a list of vendors and products would be a good start in learning how to do an occasional “one off” at home.Overall a great book and well worth the modest price if you want to get up to speed with Eagle. Can’t wait to order my first PCBs!

More Than an Eagle Tutorial
This book is much more that a tutorial on how to use Eagle. It contains all of the nitty gritty details needed to take you from zero to a finished board in a couple of days. With all of the really good YouTube tutorials out there I hesitated to buy yet another book that was likely to gather dust on the bookshelf but I found myself constantly reaching for this when ever I had a question and I usually found the answer. My first boards came out perfect.Dr. Monk has several other books that I am now considering.

GOOD ... but only for the ones who master the skills of making the circuit already.
It is good BUT it's good for the ones who know how to make circuits already. This book will guide you through the PCB-making programme called EAGLE™, and how to soldering the circuit on your own but thats means you need to kind of master the circuit making skills already. So, if you want to learn how to make a circuit from this book, don't buy it unless you know about circuit already, and want to make a computer design of the circuit, then it's time to learn EAGLE™.I don't want to hide but I am going to be in grade 10 next academic year, and I want to learn something cool for the upcoming IB personal project and I have not very much knowledge about circuit, especially PCBs, I may come back to read it but after I master the skills of making the complicated circuits that actually work. HeHeHeFor the ones who want to learn how to make circuits from the very beginning basic levels, I recommend the book the author of this book co-wrote with another author, Practical Electronics for Inventors Edition 3. That will be better for a beginner!Link to the store page of the book. >>> http://www.amazon.com/Practical-Electronics-Inventors-Third-Edition-ebook/dp/B00BAR2YGK/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t/177-9376978-6685645

Just what I was looking for...
This book finally explains what I have been trying to find the answers for via Google. Dr. Monk's writing style is easy to follow, and he gives real world advice about design and layout. It is not the end-all-be-all book on eagle design, but it's a wonderful starter book to introduce you and get you moving in the right direction. I highly recommend this book to anyone getting started who is tired of floundering looking for he answers.

Great tutorial style
This is a very effective tutorial style book. I was able to learn Eagle in a few days with it. It covered everything I needed to know from entering a schematic, creating several new symbols, to laying out and routing, to submitting the finished board for manufacturing and assembly. I highly recommend it as Eagle is not very intuitive.
