It looked great, and then all of a sudden, one day, it stopped working, I looked at the power cord and saw it was burnt in a small area where I guess it spiked. Now its useless.

If you've ever had a real neon sign, you understand that they are very bulky and heavy. They have a massive power transformer and a metal framework to support the bent glass tubing that makes up the lettering or design. They also typically will emit a soft hum or buzz and some heat, maybe even a 60 cycle flicker. Old fashioned neon signs came with weight, bulk, inconvenience, and even danger if you consider the weight and scattered glass if you drop and break one. What we can do today with LEDs and plastics allows us to affordably simulate the nostalgic neon aesthetic without any of those downside factors. Simulated neon is relatively cheap, safe, quiet, and cool. It can serve as a witty and inviting welcome for company to your personal space, or a colorful night light when the world is otherwise quiet. I am very pleased with the way my coffee sign is mounted on clear plastic that has pre-drilled hanging holes. If I was going to suggest one thing to improve it, perhaps a minimalist clear plastic stand to display it on a counter top instead of hanging? Some people decorate with simulated barn wood signs that say "live, laugh, love... " Just give me a lighted sign to help me find the coffee, and I am sure the rest will work out okay.
