I lost overdrive and when I took my transmission pan and valve body down I found my original one broken and the pieces was laying on top of the valve body, I replaced the retainer and took the plate off the valve body to find that a broken piece fell into the valve body and had my overdrive silonoid jammed, I took tewizers and picked the broken piece of the retainer out and put it all back together. Added transmission fuild back and everything works great , this part saved me over $1500.00 ... Took me about an 1.5 hours from start to finish to take apart and fix with only two sockets and twizers... Make sure you look in valve body for broken parts of the retainer ! If you lose overdrive, then a well known problem is the end of this clip breaking off and dropping into the valve body, blocking the OD valve. You don't have to pull the transmission but you will have to drop the valve body. This clip doesn't cost that much, but there are a lot of "while you're in there" upgrades that you should do while the valve body is out. The clip has held up for over 4 months.
