does it do mean and standard deviation?

The answer to this question is perhaps. The problem is the instruction booklet does not go with the calculator. Keys mentioned in the booklet are not present on the actual calculator and that includes buttons necessary for mean and SD calculations. I have spent a lot of time on this calculator and so far have not been bale to get mean or SD. The Chinese manufacturers need to produce an instruction booklet that refers to the particular calculator in question. As it is I cannot recommend this calculator.

How do you change it to radian mode?

Press the key Mode/clr key several times until DEG RAD GRA appears. Then press the number under the word RAD.

I have a function question. if i want to square root 9, do i input 9 1st, or do i select the square root function 1st?
