Is it water resistant and does it have a leather band?

No it is not water resistant. It is a 10 X so it keeps it shape. The band is cloth. The sweat band is cushioned and conforms. Great hat. The box it comes in will be to small and the hat will be deformed. You have to straighten it. I sent two back for this and then just fixed it myself.

Is it a long oval or a round shape

I wouldn't call it a LONG oval, but it's not round either. Kind of a short oval. Great hat.
