A Beautiful and Inspiring Story of Hope and Perseverance 💚
The Girl Who Planted Trees is a beautiful and inspiring story about a young girl who decides she wants to make the dull mountain appear more as it uses to be when it was filled with beautiful trees like she's seen in her grandpas book. This is a lovely story of perseverance and hope which is led by a strong and determined character. I think the perseverance the girl shows even when everyone else is laughing at her and doesn't believe she'll succeed is what makes this book so unique and inspiring. I loved the girls attitude and how even when she was disheartened she still tried again and it is great for the children to see that it's not always an easy journey to achieve your goals but with persistance you can succeed. It's heartwarming to see how the story ends with everyone coming together and the children were so happy when we got to see the results of the young girls efforts as they'd been hoping she'd succeed from early on in the book. The illustrations are lovely and I like the way the colours are mostly natural themed as this fits well with the story. The children found the illustrations very eye catching and they didn't want to look away from the book and they really enjoyed seeing the young girl trying to achieve her goal. I thought that the younger children might not be so interested by the story, especially as it's quite long, but even they were enjoying listening to the story. This is such an inspiring story and I think the young girl has to be one of my favourite characters from a picture book. It's a beautiful and inspiring story that everyone should read to remind us that we should never give up on our dreams even when they don't go according to plan.

An inspirational, beautiful story. We loved it!
This is a gorgeous nature inspired story about a little girl who sets out to plant a forest on a mountain. When the girl's grandad shows her a picture book of what the mountain used to look like a long time ago she is determined to help. Sadly, over time, the trees had been cut down and the animals had all disappeared. The little girl tries to grow a fruit tree with a little pip. There are many obstacles in her way: the mountain is dry, the birds eat her seeds and a great storm destroys them. The little girl is sad but she perserveres. Eventually the little girl manages to grow all sorts of plants in her yard and the whole village comes together to bring life back to the mountain. It's wonderful to see such a young girl who independently takes on such an important issue in her community and makes a big change. Through her determination and strength she brings her village together to tackle deforestation and make her mountain beautiful again. This would have been a perfect book for international women's day too! This is such an inspirational story for young children to read. The illustrations are stunning and capture the thoughts and feelings of the little girl so well. I loved the contrast of the darker pages with the vibrant pictures of the whole village restoring the mountain at the end.A great story to share in schools to remind children that even when they are little they are capable of making a big difference. It also demonstrates that with perseverance and determination as well as by working together so much can be achieved.

Perseverance growing back a forest
In this beautiful picture book, a little girl has an idea. To re grow the forest that once stood on the now bare mountain next to her village. She saves her fruit pips and painstakingly plants them on the mountain.Reforestation is by no means a simple task. She's only one girl, but she is resourceful and despite the many set backs, she does eventually, in her life time succeed at restoring the mountain forest to its former glory. It's something of a rollercoaster ride watching the girl's first set of trees get torn down by storms or dug up by animals. But it's also heart-warming to see her overcome the challenges and convince her initially synical neighbours to take part in the task of planting and growing a new forest. It's a wonderful tale of community and nature, showing children that with determination, even one small person can inspire great environmental changes. This message is particularly relevant where deforestation and the climate crisis is concerned. It's reassuring to believe that individual actions can make a difference and in turn inspire to restore the damage done to forests.I haven't mentioned it yet, but as you can see from the pictures, the illustrations are brilliant. Stunning luscious green forests in the end papers, a pinky colour palette throughout and brilliantly conveyed emotions that keep you hooked for a happy ending.

A beautifully written inspiring story
This is a powerful story about the importance of not giving up. It shows readers how even just one small person can make a big difference. I also love how it celebrates community and champions the environment too.

A lovely story about the power of an individual to make a change.
What I loved most about this story was how the actions of one little girl united her entire village and inspired them to take collective action. The message that everyone has the power to make a difference shone out from the book’s pages. A powerful message that homes, schools, and communities should take on board and act upon.Although this is an original tale, its poetic language and confident message meant that it read like a fable which had been passed down through generations. The illustrations cemented the tone of a traditional story with their warm colour palette and natural feel.
