Exactly what I needed
Burner diameter should match pan diameter. I can set up two of these at one outlet two of them together only used 1000 w 500 watts each really makes a nice setup

Scent it back...
I'm sorry to say that the open box had such a strong smell I couldn't keep it in the house. I returned it unused.

Heats up fast!
Great little addition to home or camper. It really heats up fast. Just must be careful not touch it after turning off for awhile.

Small, auto shut off safety feature, gets very hot to touch
I tested this teeny tiny electric hot plate by making a pot of tea. The first thing we noticed was the strong, burning chemical smell when it was first turned on. The smell burned off after 30 minutes, for the most part, but lingered in the apartment. Under normal conditions (a larger hot plate or the stove), it takes less than 7 minutes to make tea. For this small burner at the highest temperature, it took over 20 minutes to make tea. It has 5 temperature settings and an auto shut off feature when the desired temperature is reached or the burner overheats. This is a good safety feature. Unfortunately, the sides and underbelly of the burner became very, very hot and would burn to touch. This hot plate would make a good back-up system in case my other hot plates fail or the stove stops working. I would not recommend using it around small children, pets or for everyday use.
