This is a really nice ruler that will serve many purposes around the house. I originally picked this up for my wife so she had a more sturdy and well made ruler to have in her craft room, but I have found myself using it in the garage too to measure lumber and other things. The ruler is heavy in the hand, but lightweight given that it's made from metal. The corners are quite pointy, so be aware of that.

The scales are easily identifiable, but I am not sure that the color-coded groupings are that useful, i.e., it’s easier for me to scan and find the scale I need rather than try to remember what’s on red, green, and blue. But that’s just me.Unlike my previous rules, the aluminum construction will better withstand my inadvertent abuse creating kicks, dings, cracks, and outright fracture; its 4 oz. weight testifies to its heft and durability. At $8, this rule is at a price point consistent with most offered at Amazon of a similar construction and design. A nice ruler that I recommend, unconditionally.

I often use a scale ruler in my plans for woodworking projects. The one I used to use was plastic and broke a couple of years ago (I have been using one of the broken pieces - yeah, I know kind of sad!). The other week I was at my camp and needed one and didn't even have the broken one to use as it was home. So I buckled down and got me some. this time I went with aluminum and got a two pack! One for home and one for the camp!. These are easy to read and once I get the color coding memorized I will know what face to use for what scales just from the colors. So very happy with them. Hey what do you want from a guy that has been using a broken one for years! I am easy to please :)

These are nice, heavy rulers. They work well for my elementary aged kids.

Didn't care for the metal.
