Best shavette I've used yet
As far as shavettes go this is easily the best of them. I tried the Parker version, Dovo, some other generic one I got from a local beauty supply store. This one far exceeds all of them. I will say I do not use this regularly. I use a traditional straight razor most of the time and I got this for taking on the road. While it does have a bit more heft than a typical shavette it still does not feel like a real straight. But it gives a fantastic shave if you know how to handle it. It can be less forgiving than a straight razor because DE blades are sharper and little mistakes are more likely to bite you. But once you get the hang of it you will get a great shave with this razor. It is well made and well designed. I noticed some have complained about too much blade being exposed. I think it is just fine. It just puts more responsibility on you to control the blade. This is a great shaver and if you don't want to bother with maintaining a traditional straight razor this is a very reasonable alternative.

You need a steady hand, good light, lots of soap, and a good eye.
I was not infatuated with this, although I wanted to be. It was fairly simple as shavers go, but my skin is grumpy about shaving, and it didn't work out for me.Good for removing hair--you may want to research blades. I tried a cheapy brand, and I think that's part of where I went wrong. Also, I'm clumsy and this does require a bit more skill and hand-eye coordination than a regular safety blade.

Super Disappointed
Extremely poor materials and construction. Having seen it in person, I'd have a hard time justifying $5 for this shavette. The handle is made of every pliable and easily scratched plastic. The logo is poorly painted on. The brass rivets were over pressed into the plastic. The scales are warped. The plates that make up the blade were clearly stamped out with an inferior punch and die and poor metal leaving pitting at the edges. The polished parts are all scratched from careless handling during assembly. The pressed locator pins that align the blade are poorly shaped as to barely reach the adjoining holes when the blade is in place. The sliding clamp I'd so thin I bent it drying it after washing the machining dirt off it. The pin it swivels on is counter sunk so deep and poorly it could easily be pulled through with your bare hands. I really can't say enough bad things about the construction of this shavette.

Buyer please be careful and read every single review BEFORE BUYING!!! I wish i would've!
I'm not sure how crazy I am yet about this product. I was so stoked to get my dreadnought product, and when I got home from work last night and opened it, it was very disappointing. The packaging was awesome, the box all flashy, but the cut throat itself was just dull, and there were marks all over it. Fingerprints of whoever handled it before packaging, some imperfections like machining marks, the handle is a duller color than advertised, the handle feels flimsy and weak, and the part holding the blade arm to the handle feels incredibly loose. I wish the Brits who made this would've made it with a bit more heart and pride. Almost wishing I would've not gave this place a chance, and went with something all American, or Chinese. Won't be recommending this to anyone. Sorry. :-(

Nice Shavette!
It’s a pretty good Shavette. It has a nice weight and holds the blade nice and secure. I suggest using precut de blades, because for some strange reason, the blade is overexposed when using the regular de blades. I use the precut derby blades. The handle is plastic, but seems very durable, and the blade holder is a nice stainless steel (not sure). I would lightly oil the blade holder just incase to prevent any type of rusting. It arrived fast, on time, and the only complaint I have is that the blade holder was scratched, but that doesn’t compromise the shave.

Done razor shopping for life now. Thank you!
This thing is fantastic! Shaves smooooooth, no cuts, no razor burn, gets into smaller places (like under the nostrils) better than a conventional razor, and the blade lasts much, much longer. I got a variety pack of blades for this thing. Based on my experience so far, I will expire before I use all of the razor blades, and I'm only in my early 40's. Plus the logo is just badass.I began looking for a traditional straight edge, but since I found this, I have no need. For the cost of a good straight edge, this Dreadnought Shavette and a few boxes of blades will last you many, many years and cost you a fraction of what a traditional straight blade will cost.

Usable but that's about it. There is a large gap between blade and holding scales which will pull hair when hair gets long.

Best shavette for the price (better than $40 Dovo)
In my opinion, this is a better shavette than the $40 Dovo, and it costs less than half the price. No plastic inserts here, folks. The blade holding mechanism is all metal, and quite easy to load your blades. It has some weight, so it feels more like a real straight razor. Its not as good as Feather Shavette, but that costs abut $100, so that is not a fair comparison. It gave me a very close shave and I liked the feel of it. If you are a straight razor beginner, or just want to have a shavette in your rotation for those days you don't feel like stropping your real SR, this is a solid choice for the money.
