According to the label, the vegetable capsule is made from hypromellose and water; According to Wikipedia, that is different then phthalates. It is listed as an alternative to animal gelatins, and used for controlled delivery in oral medications. Other ingredients-magnesium stearate. Main ingredients: Jerusalem artichoke and Serrapeptase.

How many units is this per capsule versus DOCTORS BEST? THANKS

Hmm, don't really know how to compare the amounts: Nutramedix is 500 mg per capsule in a blend of Jerusalem artichoke extract and Serrapeptase. I don't know how that compares in amount of serrapeptase activity to the Doctor's Best 40,000 or 120,000 SPUs... Sorry not to be more helpful!
