They can be used in an oven too! *by C***N on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on June 2, 2014* These planks are organic, thick (1/4") and big! (5 1/4" x 14 1/2") There are lots of planks out there, but these are the thickest and heaviest I have seen anywhere. These impart such a terrific flavor to salmon (other meats too) it is hard to cook without them now. It was raining here when I wanted to first try these on the grill, and when I discovered I could use these in the oven too, I was excited. The procedure is almost the same as for the grill.For salmon: Planks need to be soaked for several hours or better yet, overnight. I used apple cider. After patting dry and brushing with olive or other oil, (to prevent sticking) they are to be placed in a shallow roasting pan and pre heated about 15 minutes at 350 degrees. The salmon is placed on top of the plank and baked for approximately 20-30 minutes. (your oven or toaster oven may vary). I baked the salmon for 12 minutes at 400 degrees in my Breville toaster oven without excessive smoke. Soaking the planks overnight helped a lot. To prolong the life of the plank, I think the lower temperatures are best though.The best part of this is that the planks can be cleaned with water and a gentle scrub brush and reused many times! Used on a grill with indirect heat, they may also last through several meals. Not so with thinner planks. These are well worth the price! I will be buying them again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good wood but the width is a problem *by A***E on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on July 10, 2014* I LOVE cedar plank grilling. At this point its just about the only way I will cook fish on the grill. It lends moisture and a subtle flavor when you cook on a plank. The wood on these planks is very high quality. My only quibble is that the width is very narrow. These boards are 5.25" which is just not quite wide enough to hold anything but the end piece of a salmon and so the fish hangs over the side. This isn't a crisis but its enough of an annoyance that in the future I will look for wider boards. Other boards I've purchased have been 6 or more inches. This probably doesn't seem like a significant difference, but to me, it is. So why four stars? Because the wood really is clean and high quality, and that's worth 4 stars. You may not cook wide food so this would be perfect for you. I cook a lot of thick and wide salmon fillets so these boards don't really work for me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Narrow cedar grilling planks *by C***S on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on October 31, 2014* These planks are nice and long but not as wide as I would have liked. Could not find the wider planks so purchased these. They are a little rough in texture but do not pose a problem for grilling as you soak the wood in water prior to use. Imparts a nice flavor.
