Disclaimer, I know next to nothing about violins; this was a starter violin for my 6th grade daughter as she is taking an elective violin class at school. OK. For the price, cannot be beat; this is a working violin, i mean it sounds like a violin to my untrained ears, the sound may not be deep or rich, or whatever other adjective violin players use, but hey! for the price, you can get to verify if the user likes it short term, and then move on to a better one. I took it for a tune up to the local music shop, the guy took maybe 5 minutes to fine tune it. He said it was a good little starter violin, but do not expect much than that. The music teacher did say that the bow was kinda crappy, so we bought a better bow ($50) made of real horse hair (I believe) and bought better rosin. Other than that, the case is great, and the other things that came with it, like the chin holder and tuner, is a nice plus. So if you are barely starting out with the violin, and don't really know the future, this is a great buy.

This is a very nice set for beginners. Bow is nice - brand new, so make sure you put a lot of rosin. I really like how it's a complete set with a nice lightweight case, shoulder rest, tuner, cleaning cloth and rosin. The sound of the instrument itself is OK - acceptable for beginners - but you get what you pay for. Maybe with upgraded strings it would have a bit bigger sound. We had been renting a $900 instrument, but are moving and needed to return the rental and bought this one instead. This one was much less than that, so in comparison to the price difference, the quality for price is pretty good and I think it's good enough to tie us over to the next size.

I purchased this as a warehouse deal. I'm not sure if that's part of the issue or if the violin would have arrived like we received it. There were multiple things wrong: -the strings were put in backwards and unusable once we tried to fix them -we were only given 3 extra strings (not 4) -the bridge was installed incorrectly and would not stay in the correct spot even after multiple times of trying to get it to work -there was a hole in the bag Needless to say, the violin was returned. We were hopeful because it looked like a nice violin and there were other good reviews. It didn't work out for us.

I always wanted to play the violin, and now am greatly enjoying fiddling around with this affordable violin kit. Would probably want to replace it down the road if I wanted to get serious about playing, however it’s a great beginner kit. The instruction manual was not very complete, but after rosining the bow for about ten minutes, it was up and playing. The strings are hard to tune, because the knobs are very sensitive, but the tuner was very easy to use and seemed very accurate. The case is really handy, and the kit comes with extra strings. The violin itself seemed decent quality, and I have succeeded in getting some good sound out of it. Overall I really liked the kit, and it seems like a great option for beginners.

So far I really like it. The tuner included works really well, I like the different modes for it. I’m just starting out but so far everything seems well made- had to rosin the bow A LOT but I guess that’s normal for brand new violins. I did snap one of the strings already while trying to tune (thank goodness it comes with an extra set) but that was probably user error. I will add more if anything fantastic or horrible comes along, hah, but so far so good!

I had no high hopes for this fiddle and understand that it will never be played at Carnegie Hall. But I was amazed at the tonal quality and resonance that it had. I have played violin and we got this for our granddaughter, who is taking orchestra and violin now in school. She loves it too. What I am saying is, this is a perfect purchase for a kiddo just starting to try out the violin. It certainly will not discourage them by the tonal quality. Then, if the kiddo shows an interest, go ahead and get one of the higher quality fiddles. You will save a lot of money in case they find out that violin is not for them. But this violin will not dissuade them in the process.

The strings broke when we tried to put it together. We then tried to use the replacements and they also broke also. The violin its self is perfect size . I’m hoping we can get new strings

This is a good quality instrument for the money. Nice case and accessories as well. When it arrived, we took it to the local music shop and had it tuned and checked out. We were told that this would be perfect for our 8 year old granddaughter to learn on. This is what she wanted for Christmas (from Santa).
