In my book, less is more and a waist pack like this encourages you to take a lot less on a ride. It is more comfortable than a backpack and gives a greater sense of freedom. The only downside is the limited bottle capacity. I would supplement the Podium bottle with one on my frame.

Overall ok. A bit bummed that my kindle in its cover doesn't fit. I travel and hike a lot, and there are soooo many fanny packs that do not have a bottle holder, or have two holders, which for whatever reason, just doesn't appeal. Or the bag is just weenie. My last bag was the right size, but omg, getting the bottle back in its place was a nightmare (material just too flimsy and straps holding it in made it hard to put it back in.) The place for the bottle is a tad small, and if the bag is full, the bottle is a little hard to get in. Not perfect, but closer to what I want than others. Grrr.

I hike 5 days a week and this thing works for me in summer. The only design drawback I can find is there are elastic loops on each side to hold any extra strap length flush against the belt. If you're not careful, when the belt is unsnapped, these can fall off. At this price point, you'd think that shouldn't be a concern. I lost one loop the first week. Additionally, I replaced the bottle with a larger Camelback and it fits perfectly.

Before putting anything inside, I tried it on and it felt great! As soon as I loaded it up with my riding tools and gear, it became bulky on the sides and left a large gap in the center of my back… very uncomfortable. I returned this pack after that.If you are a minimalist and don’t load this pack full, it might not bulge as it did for me and it might work out for you.
