I purchased this "double barrel" model and the next model down that only has one "barrel." I ended up returning this one and keeping the other, though that was only because I missed the return window on the "single barrel" by a day, I would have returned both.These devices kind of work and are kind of a gimmick. Some dogs respond to them, only while you're actively holding down the button and directly pointing at their ears while they're not barking, and others don't care. But yes, you need line of site to the dog's ear and for many breeds, if they're barking they're not listening. So you need to wait for them to take a breath before they even notice the sound.The device emits a high frequency tone that humans can hear if they're in the line of fire. This one has two "barrels," promising longer range, and a strobe light when you push "deter" instead of "train." I really thought that "train" would put out a lower power tone so it could be used in closer quarters to, you know, train your own dog, but it appears to just not activate the strobe.So, since the effectiveness of this device was not greater than Dog Care's mid-range product that is sold MUCH cheaper, and it has an annoying/pointelss strobe, I returned this.

This item worked better than I expected. Definitely gets my dogs attention. I’ve used it when unleashed dogs have ran up on us while walking. Only one time did it not get another dogs attention but works great with my dog. Would recommend to other dog owners

This worked too effectively for my needs. I bought it for the 35' distance and because it actually had an on/off switch instead of having to hold the sound button down for 10 seconds. But I had to return it for a device with a warning beep and a little less distance. I gave up about 10' in distance. It turns out the warning beep is as effective as the "sound" once they know the sequence. It comes down to user preference, but I think if your dog is trained correctly, the warning beep item is going to be the right item for more of the dog population. If you need the distance and "power/loudness" then this is the right item. It was comfortable to hold but was a handful. Not a small item to hide in your palm but I was expecting that. It was as described just not the best for me.

I have 3 dogs; 1 miniature schnauzer and 2 Boston Terriers. They like barking when someone comes to the door and occasionally get fiesty with one another. This has worked extremely well with my schnauzer. I used it on training mode 2-3 before she learned not to bark at the door. My 2 Bostons could not care less, at least with the training mode. I've not had the opportunity to try it with them on full blast without my schnauzer in the area. I have used it to break up a fight between them and it worked like a charm!! For that reason alone, it's worth twice the cost.

I have a 7 month old gsd,she is already 70 plus lbs. She likes to jump up on people when they come in the door. Our trainer came in and shestarted to jump,I touched the train button pointing at the ground. She instantly stopped,made a couple of circles and did not jump on her again.I was afraid the trainer would not like me using the device, but she is ok with it. She cautioned me that timid dogs can be afraid, so don't use it and praise and treat them for good behavior. One other thing, the device is very powerful, I would not recommend that you use it on high level unless you are trying to stop an attack or dogs fighting.

I've tried a number of different bark deterrent units and none really seemed to work. This is the first unit to do what was advertised. We have two dogs; one medium sized and one small and this unit gets their attention immediately and they stop barking. They are now trained to come into the house at that point but they do expect a treat at that point. Hopefully at some point the treats won't be needed. I should note that we have had the unit being used for only a couple of weeks so battery life is not known yet. However we have left it on 24/7 and it's still looks good so its' promising.

I used this with Bhodi, my Tibetan Terrier, but only to deter unwanted behavior. Namely, barking at people when we’re out walking, and “counter surfing” when food is out in the kitchen and I had to leave for a minute or two. For the latter I set a “trap” and watched from out of sight — when Bhodi started to take the bait, I tapped the “train” button for a split second. I did this twice three days ago. I’ve set a couple more traps, but Bodhi shows no interest in exploring the counter. No more barking on walks either.

I had no idea what to expect when I ordered this I just needed something that would help in training our dog curb their barking. Not only has this helped us with our own but also neighbor dogs who would bark outside incessantly. One of the best things I have ever bought on Amazon.

8 year old dachshund, barked at everything and couldn’t get her to stop. Otherwise an amazing pet. Just a couple uses of this device (it actually scares her) and I can get her to stop barking with one verbal command. More often she doesn’t even start barking! Highly recommend.

I only have to use it on train. I can just take it out and show them and they will stop barking. I highly recommend this..

Product worked great the first few times used but after that product has held up to expectations. In addition, battery life to receiver only last for about 2-3 hours. Not satisfied with the product

If you have problems with dogs barking, this thing absolutely works perfectly. Buy it, it works wonders.

This didn't work on either of my dogs. Both act like they don't hear anything. They are both 10 pound dogs with lots of energy. I really had hoped it would at least curb their barking.
