Protein and Low Carb
I use veggie protein crumbles for all kinds of recipes and These are Great. No flavor, so you can add whatever you want them to taste like. They're pretty spongey, which some people may not like, but for me they're perfect. I think their value is great and just add liquid to get them to expand. I add chicken bouillon and spices, depending on how I want them to taste.

Expensive but great for protein
If you want to get rid of that weird cardboard flavor you need to soak and squeeze the TVP multiple times in fresh water before seasoning and cooking. The product is a good source of protein and is fairly easy to cook with. The product is expensive compared to going to a local Chinese market but if you have to order it online this is a solid choice

Great meat alternative
I use the TVP crumbles whenever I'm cooking up a pot of beans. Regardless if they be Pinto, little red, kidney, navy bean, etc. I add a cup or two of the crumbles depending on the quantity of beans an hour or two before the beans are done. The crumbles will swell and soften and take on the flavor of the beans being cooked. I've been a vegetarian for many years and there crumbles provide me the protein I need due to the lack of meat in my diet. I use them as a meat substitute in other recipes as well. Maybe not a choice for a Texas cattleman but a healthy alternative for those who prefer a meatless diet.

Excellent Product
Always have in the pantry. We do not eat meat and the texture of this product nicely substitutes in meals such as stuffed bell peppers and many others. Make sure to rehydrate before using.

Good quick protein option with a long shelf life
We typically like soy versions of meat products as vegan alternatives, only most of those are frozen and full of extra ingredients. This product is just dried soy protein in a versatile chunk size. My wife had her doubts but all we had to do was put together a marinade of some soy sauce, onion and garlic powder, a teaspoon or so of oil. then mix with water, stir and then add about the same volume of the TVP chunks. Microwave that until it just starts to bubble, then set aside to cool and voila, it's as good as any meat substitute in stir fries, soups, whatever. The texture is nice. It's something like soy curls, but slightly cheaper and still non GMO.
