Helikon-TexTactical Shorts for Men - Military, Hiking, & Hunting

They arrived quickly and more important they fit well. I’m normally a size 32/33 but ordered 34 because of other reviews I read and I agree. Order up size not down. I love how the pockets have zippers and are more on the side of the leg vs on front like some other shorts. It’s easy to walk with cell phone wallet or other items and knowing that nothing will slip out. Some shorts only zip on one side but these have both left and right which is better. In addition there are more pockets that don’t zip but that’s ok. I’ll be buying more in different colors.

I need some shorts that can handle the wild. These seem to fit the bill: secure pockets, room to move.First: I have worn these shorts for only a week (every day for about a week). This review is based on my experience so far.Yesterday, after some mobility work, I ran five miles on winding, rolling, dirt trails (roots, sand patches, rocks, snakes, etc.) through some local woods. Then I did some forward rolls, hung upside down by my knees on a branch, did numerous pop-ups onto the branch, did a few sprints, stalked (hand-foot crawl, hand-knee crawl, soldier crawl, walking, crouching) through some woods, and did other movements I don't recall.On other days of the week, I did lots of running, crawling, balance work, mobility work, squatting, log flipping.My wallet, keys, and cell phone were secure. The shorts gave me room to move. The fit is not too loose nor too tight.The zipper pockets are big enough to hold my cell phone, which I need since I do some foraging, tracking, plant study, animal study, nature study, and the iNaturalist thing. I need my phone to take pictures of plants, animals, animal tracks, and the local ecology. The zipper is a "rough" one, not one of the "loose" zippers that easily unzip on their own. It stays in place. And the zipper pockets are placed well: down and to the side, but towards the back. This way, my cell phone does not hammer my hand when I sprint. (I sometimes had that problem with my Blackhawk cargo shorts, which I love, but which are, I think, discontinued.)I bought a trial pair of 511s (good company!), but their pockets won't fit my cell phone. So, they won't work for a good workout.These Helikon-Tex shorts are light, seem durable, and seem like they won't restrict my range of motion. I like the Blackhawk cargo shorts, but I've split numerous pairs in the crotch when squatting or shouldering logs in the woods; that's a blow-out of $60 or so (a blow-out that does not seem repairable; the shorts are ruined). I hope the Helikon-Tex hold up to my log work.They so far seem to pass the test, so I'll be buying more.Update 10 April 2019: I have worn them every day since 22 March. I've run 8.5 miles in them, crawled, rolled, stalked, climbed, run, sprinted, jumped, squatted, lifted, and done about every movement you could. And they have kept my cell phone, keys, wallet, and knife with me. The shorts are giving me what I need.

Great fit, order your normal size, pockets are moved a bit from standard cargo shorts allowing a more comfortable carry. Velcro closure is something i am trying to get used to. A bit expensive but quality material and put together well. Dring loops a too small to the point of uselessness.

They have a nice look, and I like that they are at the knees. I’m not sure about securing with Velcro over a button, but only because some Velcro wears out too fast. I’m willing to give them a try and hopefully they last.

Great design that is perfect for competitive shooters! Pockets in the right place, perfect length, great performance fabric for hot days on the range.

These pants are sick. They don't stain, I was even able to get gray paint off and it look like new, yet they wash well. The pockets are deep and the lining is thick. There are several useful pockets. The elastic waistband is extremely comfortable.

Good material but the pockets are too tight or hard to reach.

I'm a 33" waist and these fit great. I'm also 6'3" and got the 11" length, they go to bottom of knee. Gonna order an extra pair of 8", think I'll like them even better

Nice and stretchy and durable. Enough pockets to put stuff in and the are secure and don’t stick out.

Shorts are ok but bottom of shorts at thigh level is far to wide and I have thick thigh's
