Yes. The top for the assembly will hold water when wanted.

Since it goes down deep, is there anything you can mention as far as it maybe interfering with the garbage disposal below it?

I purchased this drain when I removed my garbage disposal. I suspect this is the wrong drain if you have a garbage disposal. Otherwise the product worked really well. I changed both drains and like the deep baskets. It was a fairly easy change.

I didn't know,, so... According to a question answered on ad . Someone said it was made in China.

how do you attach the garbage disposal? Do you need an adapter?

This will not work with a Garbage Disposal. The garbage disposal comes with it's own mounting hardware that takes the place of the Waste Basket
