I sanded the face of the headstock back to raw wood to remove the “Fender JAZZ BASS” decals. This returned the wood to its washed out and pale natural appearance. This was sanded back to 320 grit, then sanded again with wet and dry 800 to get it like glass. 3 coats applied, with a light sanding with wet and dry 800 in between, a new Fender Jazz Bass water slide applied and allowed to dry out completely, followed by another 3 coats of this nitrocellulose spray, with sanding in between. My headstock looks factory quality, and I am one heck of a picky person. The maple regains it’s warmer hue with multiple coats, and it matches the other factory finished maple details almost perfectly.
