Energy Efficient and ice cold AC!
This is my second Mr. Cool mini split that I've installed in our home. The unit is easy to install, I did hire an electrician to wire up a dedicated 30 amp circuit, but aside from that I did the rest of the install myself. You will need to purchase a hole saw for your drill to be able to drill the right hole through the wall. Sadly, I almost nicked the electrical wiring in my wall, BE VERY CAREFUL when using the hole saw that you're not drilling through plumbing or electrical wiring. Also, you will need to purchase a pad to set the unit on outside. I recommend a foam one, they are much easier to deal with than having to pour concrete, and fairly easy to get level. I didn't get it 100% perfectly level, but it's within tolerances and it looks great on the pad outside. The wires and the AC hoses are way too long, and that's my only complaint, the install doesn't look 100% professional because you can't cut the AC lines or they will loose all the refrigerant and you would have to recharge them again. Anyway, they are coiled up next to the unit. It's on the side of the house so no one can really see it. The remote is easy to use and has a lot of great functions including "follow me" which you can then set the remote next to your bed and it will maintain the temperature at the remote, instead of maintaining the temp at the unit. There is also a dehumidify function, but honestly I don't know how different it is then cooling. There is no way to properly dehumidify the room unless you cool it as well, so often times when I want to dehumidify I have to freeze myself out of the room as well. The heat works great in the winter, perfect for San Diego, not sure how perfect it would be in sub zero climates since it does take a while to come on in those climates. One thing I recommend is buying a line set cover to cover up the line sets outside. Unfortunately, most of them are barely big enough to fit the drain line, power and compressor lines, but you can squeeze them all in and get it to fit. The line set cover gives it a nice finished look. You can get a generic one on Amazon and save money versus buying the Mr. Cool one. One cool thing, we have solar on our roof (4.6kW) and running the Mr. Cool's in all 3 bedrooms of our home on a hot day our solar was still giving back 1KW to the power company. This is so much more efficient than a central AC system.

Mr. Cool Split 12k BTU is amazing!
UPDATE AFTER 3 YEARS: No regrets at all! I can set the heat/AC/ temp from Alexa app or just by askingโฆ.its flawless and wonderful! This unit performs! Well, so farโฆ.so wonderful! We watched videos and read the instruction, first of all. Hubby then laid out all the parts and they were all intact, well packed too. He then poured a concrete pad for the outside compressor and allowed it to dry and cure. Once he knew everything was ready, he took his time, a few hours, and installed the unit. WOW, AMAZING! Both inside and outside units are whisper quiet; canโt really hear the inside unit on the other side of the room. When I returned home from work, we installed the USB unit so we could control the system remotely from the app and from Alexaโฆ.this is great! Please be sure you take your time and follow instructions. Watch some YouTube videos, good ones, because there are definitely some lousy ones that will get you into trouble during install. All said and done? The install was easy and this unit will save you so much money because you donโt need to hire a pro. Cooling and Heating is so comfortable, without blowing hard or loudly into the room. The fan mode works well, as well. Right now I canno say enough about this systemโฆ.wish we wouldโve purchased this years ago. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your Mr. Cool as much as we do. Will add indoor pics soon. UPDATE: Weโve been using this unit daily and are absolutely impressed! We live in the desert so this time of year morning temps are in the 40s and daytime in the 80s, therefore we use AC and heat in the same day and this Mr. Cool is impressive, to say the least. Iโm so hoping it is quality and holds up because weโre so happy with this purchase.

Two Years in the Vegas heat and still going strong!
Two Years in the Vegas heat and still going strong! The only complaint is that the line-set flexible cover has disintegrated from the direct sunlight. It keeps my garage nice and cool in 115 temps and all I do is hose off the dust and dirt once a year. I was able to install everything myself after having an electrician install the circuit and quick disconnect box. Highly recommended!

Bad unit; NO support from MrCool
I had originally given this mini-split a five-star rating based upon MrCool's claims and the delivery of the unit and ease of installation. However, having used four of these mini-splits in our new house for just a few months now, one of the four has already failed. The unit throws an E1 code, which means a bad connection between the indoor and outdoor parts, invariably a bad PCB in either the indoor, outdoor, or both parts (so my research has revealed). I contacted MrCool, submitted all requested information and photos, and we issued a ticket number and told that I would be contacted back by a technician "soon." Well, about two weeks have gone by with NO further contact from MrCool. I have sent repeated emails referencing that ticket number and left a voicemail on their support line. NO response. I have now filed a complaints with the BBB (as I now see that HUNDREDS of other people have) about the FACT that as soon as MrCool realizes that they have a for-real WARRANTY claim to deal with, they go silent. What good is a five-year warranty if you can't USE it? It's down to 20 degrees here at night, and I NEED that unit functioning. Instead, I have a brick that MrCool won't support in timely fashion. I'm furious, and NO company should need TWO WEEKS to honor a warranty claim! This is ridiculous. So, buyer beware of "Made in China" stickers, and beware of MrCool! As countless others have discovered, a warranty is only as good as the company honoring it, and MrCool goes dark when you try to get them to honor theirs!

Excellent value for a homeowner installers
I am handy, but never installed a heat pump before. I am pleased to say the MrCool DIY product installation was a success. Spending the extra $$ for the efficiency seems worthwhile, and both the interior and exterior unit are surprisingly quiet. The Internet device was also easy to install and use (but I wish it had Apple Home support). This product still gets top stars for my review, but here are some tips to be helpful to others: - The cardboard template was a bit off, specifically regarding the cutout hole. This left the unit tipsy, so it leaked on the left side; the solution was to rehang the interior unit based on the outgoing pipes that forced the unit up. - I purchased an HVAC torque wrench ($95), but in hindsight I could have probably estimated the tightening. - I was worried about bending the cables, but it turned out OK as long as I was careful. - The exterior duct cover came with 90ยฐ bends, but frankly this is wrong since the drainage line should always have some declination. My solution was to add an angle in the horizontal exterior run. The attached picture shows the unit mostly installed before adding vinyl wrapping to the coiled items. I am planning on screwing the unit to the stone supports, but need a mortar drill bit. Overall, my out-of-pocket costs (<$2K) are significantly less than the professional estimates ($5K-$6K). THANK YOU to MrCool for offering a handyman-friendly solution.

Works great even in single digits.
Bought a 9k for the garage, 400 ish sq ft, mainly for the heat. Works great even in single digits. Doesn't use that much power and was super easy to install. Cools really well too. Mounted it on the wall to keep it out of the snow and dirt. Only drawback is it vibrates the wall during certain cycles.

Works as advertised, not 100% DIY friendly.
Product is great, came on time. Plenty of good instructions to follow. Lots of great reviews and videos on YouTube of DIYers...functionally, esthetically - very well made. few down sides. If you are like me and planning to install on a 2 story house. It wasn't easy. Get it done by a Pro in that situation. This unit can only be installed with pipes going out the building from the right side. (The left side pipe do NOT go out rather they go out straight on the left). I can not believe this company does not make a product where the pipes can be take out from the left side. (It would have been so much better in my situation - see pic. Had there been a left side cutout, it would be a straight show down instead of routing the way I did - Not happy) I used 'Pioneer' lineset covers - get bigger ones than you need - I used 4 inch covers for 12k system...better for all pipes to stay in place. Do get the 'Danger - high voltage' stickers - it is a must - cost me $5 on AMZ. (MrCool should provide such stickers)

Very impressed with low ambient temperature heating
I installed my 12K 120 volt unit in April of 2023. It took me about two 8 hour days to install the unit myself. We enjoyed a nice cool house all summer with no issues. Once room temperature is reached this unit just quietly pours out enough cold air to maintain the temperature. The outdoor unit is very quiet, nothing like our 240 volt compressor which is very loud. My wife was concerned that MrCool would not put out heat below 45% from misc. articles about heat pumps she read. Well, MrCool has come through very well. Today I heated the house when it was 41 degrees outside, the unit was producing118 degree hot air at Turbo speed. Super impressive. We have not used our gas furnace yet this season. We have already saved money on our cooling bill, now we are hoping this winter we will save money off our gas bill. I have set up the electrical supply for the compressor so that I can use my 3000 watt inverter to supply power in case of a power outage. This is why I chose the 12k 120 volt model. Our city has added regulations on burning in wood stoves so we wanted an alternative emergency heating unit, MrCool fits the bill.
