A: This is NOT expensive. It's actually a good price for a quality lamp. Shop around; you'll see. Very happy with my purchase.

**Q: I would want to replace the single switch to a three way. What criteria do I need to know regarding the lamp shade for heat concern?**
A: Any modifications or alterations made will void the warranty and returns will not be accepted. This is only offered as described with an on/off switch. Try an add-on table top dimmer which works just as good.

A: I don't know the type of wood, but the color is a medium brown. It is real wood, though, not some sort of alternative or composite. It's a lovely lamp.
