Excellent Soundcard!!!
This Evo 16 is also much better than the Evo 8 because also is standalone. The Sound is Excellent too!

Perfect for drummers.
There are many features about this that are fantastic. For the price point, I’m not sure that you can beat this piece of equipment. It is literally plug and play. I use it as an interface for ProTools 10. With a few minutes of technical adjustments, works flawlessly. For a drummer, it automatically sets levels. The eight inputs are critical for mic’ing six drums with two overheads for cymbals.Highly recommended.

STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED RACK EARS!
So, first off, I'm coming from using many other interfaces with similar i/o and features . Focusrite Clarett 8PreX, Digi002, MOTO m4, to name some. I will explain what I do like and don't.Pros- Great form factor, it's the same footprint as a macbook pro 15"- Portable, fits nicely in a standard backpack or laptop bag.- Price (best selling point)- Includes the ADAT expandability- Software controlled Mic Pres (great that you can quickly recall gains)- The screen is nice quality- Sounds better then I anticipated- Uses standard IEC power cable. no wall wart.Cons- Ordered the free rack-ears, still haven't received them, been almost 2 months!!!- I miss having fast access to levels from the unit and seeing more indicators, you have to do a little bit of menu diving to see everything. (ex: can't look at inputs and output levels at same time)- No MIDI PORTS! (not an issue if you use USB midi controllers)- No SPDIF RCA port. a nice to have, but not too big of a deal- The Autogain feature glitches out, If I try to use it, I have to restart the unit to get all the channels to unmute and come back. Found it easier to just set the gain the old fashioned way.- Buttons are cheap on front, but to be expected- When using the headphone, hearing a little bit of digital/radio interference. I don't have this issue on other interfaces plugged into my same setup.Would be nice if you could use the XLR or TRS 1/4" inputs and switch between mic/line without needing 2 separate cables / connectors. I'm running from a patch bay so this doesn't allow me to share the jack. But this is probably not a standard thing people would want. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase, it's a great mobile recording rig for my band practices. I am looking forward to using it for expanding my Focusrite Clarett 8PreX via the Adat connection.

Excellent product and Protools friendly.
Love it. Will get another. Up and running in minutes. I do wish it would save my settings each power down. Like saving a scene.

Works great, if you can get it powered up. I can't get mine to power up any longer.
It worked great for 2 months. It intermittently wouldn't power up. Now it won't power up at all. The tech support was slow and ineffective. -reinstall, reset, off/on, updates and none of that worked. I had to buy another unit to finish the session. I struggled with this during a session which I flew people from other cities for a jazz album. Audient I like the quality of sound but, not so much on the reliability. I'll keep my ASP880 for now but, one hiccup and you're OUT! - think Focusrite Clarett+.

It sounds good.
It's a AWESOME product, and sounds excellent. Plug and play, nothing to worry about. Great price, I'm well pleased.

A poor product at a value price
Recently was looking and testing some new interfaces. I had ID14 mkii for a while and enjoyed the interface. So I was really excited when I saw this unit. I have been using a MOTU UltraLite-mk5 for a few weeks and wondering if Audient could exceed my expectations like MOTU has with an affordable large in/out interface. In short, no.The Evo 16 has decent build quality. It's nothing amazing but does have a metal body, and a plastic front. Buttons looked like they were not quite on center but they did seem to work fine. The little screen on the unit is actually pretty nice, nicer than units that cost WAY more (like an RME UCX II). I love that there are actual mute buttons for main monitors and headphones. The volume knob is a little cheap feeling but still pretty usable with decent resolution. Software is pretty easy to work with. Overall build wise, and how it works, it's pretty decent for the price and what you are getting. But all of that doesn't really matter if the unit doesn't sound good. I've been demoing several interfaces ranging from $600 - $1600 and honestly this one sounds the worst, and by a large margin. Like it just sounds flat out bad. To make matters worse, for some reason when listening to really quiet signals I would get some, it's hard to describe, but wavy/grainy audio output. Really weird stuff. Maybe it was just a bad unit but very unimpressed sound wise. The preamps on the mic inputs are also just nothing special. In my testing with an SM7B I found them to be quite significantly nosier than every other interface I have tried. They are usable for such a gain hungry mic but really there are just better options out there for not much more money.I gave Auto Gain a try, and although it does seem to work, in reality is seems more like a gimmick than anything. Once you know how to set levels you can do it very quickly by hand.Overall it's a poor product at a value price. If you are looking for an actual good interface with lots of outputs at a cheaper price would highly recommend spending another $100 and getting a UltraLite-mk5 instead. The UltraLite punches well above it's price point, and sounds great, while the Evo16 does not.
