You have options on how much curl you want, because you can twist your hair around the outstide of the iron if you want a fuller (but still small diameter) curl. The included heat safe travel pouch was an unexpected bonus, as well as what looks like a European power adapter included. I'd say the diameter of the barrel is 1-1.5 inches. This is going to be super helpful for touch ups after getting sweaty at workouts! The price was great too.
