FinaMill Classic Battery Spice Mill, Salt & Pepper Grinder Kitchen Gift Set

So far, I'm in love!!!! I'm new to the kitchen since I retired and I really appreciate this product and its design. I know we've had several electric salt and pepper grinders. Though the pepper ones tend to last, the salt ones breakdown quickly. I think it has something to do with the nature of salt and its affect on machinery. I don't know. I'm not an engineer. What I do know, this product is different. A, they're very easy to fill. They look great on the counter. They're are so easy to handle, and a quick twist of the wrist, and you've released one pod and are attaching another. I also love that you can get extra pods for other herbs and spices. I grow and dry most of my own herbs, and put them into a pod and presto, I get a perfectly ground seasoning. In fact, as I write this, I think I'm going to get another pod for my Old Bay, which I use daily, and my cracked red pepper - another much used ingredient. Truly, thanks for this product. I think I saw it on was of those great invention Christmas gift lists. I can't wait to get and give them to my kids' families next Christmas.

Great spice mill. Easy to use.

I purchased this spice grinder to prevent cross-contamination of spices I need to grind. I have used a coffee grinder to grind spices for years, but it cannot be submerged for cleaning. The separate pods for the FinaMill can be washed with water on the grinding surface and cleaned with a brush, making it ideal for my purposes. I used it for decorticated cardamom right away. The scent of that spice clings to the grinding wheels mildly even after washing, but all physical spice remnants are gone. So far so good. The next feature I looked for was the ability to adjust the grind, as I can do with my electric pepper grinders, but not the coffee grinder. The pods can be adjusted to either fine or coarse. I would like a third, medium adjustment, but the grinder cannot be that finely calibrated; regardless, changing the grind from coarse to fine is incredibly easy. Next, I like the power of the coffee grinder, which is corded. The FinaMill is battery powered. It struggled minimally with the cardamom, but finished the job quickly enough. Finally, the pods themselves: these are a great idea for eliminating cross-contamination, and ultimately, the reason I purchased this device. They are easy to fill and as easy to change as the video demonstrates. Super handy. BUT, and this is my biggest problem with this grinder, the grinding pods are open at the bottom, like any electric pepper mill. Because I ground cardamom for Swedish kardemummabullar, I needed 3 teaspoons, separated. Due to the design, I had to grind into a dish, pour into a smaller measuring cup, and try to get the correct amounts without measuring spoons (I have enough gadgets and dishes that this was possible, it just required extra steps and extra dishes to wash that could be avoided with the addition of a reservoir with measurement lines below the grinding mouth. That's why this "spice" grinder gets 4 stars instead of 5. The only spice I grind directly onto food is generally pepper. Everything else I grind gets measured. So as a general spice grinder, it falls just a little short. All that said, the cardamom buns were delicious, so I'll repeat this process. I do not regret the purchase and will buy more pods if I can find them without having to purchase an additional grinding motor.

This is a fantastic addition to any kitchen. Makes grinding fast and easy. Highly recommended.

I bought this because I saw it on a cooking show I saw on youtube. Wasn't too sure was gonna work right But saw the demonstrated how it works , I said what the heck I'll try it out. It came in quick. I took it out, put in my seasoning and adjusted, and it's so easy to switch from salt and pepper with this mechanism. I'm in love with it. My wife wants to use it and I said no I got this so I can use it LOL it is definitely easy to use and set up. Most of the equipment is in plastic, which as long as you take care of it, it will last a long time.It takes four double a batteries to work.

So, I'm pretty picky when it comes to kitchen gadgets. They need to be functional, easy to use, and look nice in my kitchen. This electric spice grinder does all three. It grinds up spices in a flash and the the refillable spice pods make cleanup a cinch. It is sleek and beautiful, and clearly well made. I cook with a lot of spices and years of experience tells me that grinding up whole spices is always preferable to buying them pre-ground, as they lose a lot of flavor sitting there on shelves already ground up. But, I have always struggled with other options for spice grinders and never really found anything that is as versatile as this. Cross contamination between different spices always seemed to be a problem for me before. This problem has been solved with the handy little spice pods. Now I can grind up spices for an appetizer, main course, and dessert without the dessert course having the faint hint of the other course. I just love the ability to use separate spice pods for grinding up different spices without having to take a timeout from cooking to meticulously clean the entire grinder. This product is excellent and really ups my game in the kitchen. Don't know WHAT I would do without it!

I bought this for my husband. He loves it! We have pepper in it right now. The grind can be adjusted to your liking. It is so easy to fill and use!

Used it for grinding sea salt and peppercorns. Very sturdy devise with excellent craftsmanship. Easy to use and a great idea of interchanged pods. Grinds exceptionally well from very fine to coarse. It could be more cost effective.
