Discover the Transformative Effects of Being Kind to Yourself โThis brilliant book offers us both the science and practice of how self-kindness is the secret sauce of fulfillment, transformation, and joy.โ โLorin Roche, meditation teacher and author of The Radiance Sutras Many of us yearn to feel a greater sense of inner calm, ease, joy, and purpose. We have tried meditation and found it too difficult. We judge ourselves for being no good at emptying our minds (as if one ever could) or compare ourselves with yogis who seem to have it all together. We live in a steady state of โnot good enough.โ It does not have to be this way. In Good Morning, I Love You , Dr. Shauna Shapiro brings alive the brain science behind why we feel the way we doโabout ourselves, each other, and the worldโand explains why we get stuck in thinking that doesnโt serve us. It turns out that we are hardwired to be self-critical and negative! And this negativity is constantly undermining our experience of life. โIt is never too late to rewire your brain for positivityโfor calm, clarity, and joy,โ writes Dr. Shapiro. โI know this is possible because I experienced it. Best of all, you can begin wherever you are.โ In short, lively chapters laced with science, wisdom, and story, Shapiro, one of the leading scientists studying the effects of mindfulness on the brain, shows us that acting with kindness and compassion toward ourselves is the key. With her roadmap to guide you, including her signature โGood Morning, I Love Youโ practice, in which you deliberately greet yourself each day with these simple words, you can change your brainโs circuitry and steady yourself in feelings of deep calm, clarity, and joy. For good. Review: What an amazing read! - As a therapist, I found this to be one of those books I kept thinking about after I finished it. Dr. Shauna Shapiro has a way of explaining mindfulness and self-compassion that feels genuinely encouraging. Rather than offering quick fixes, she shows how small, consistent shifts in the way we relate to ourselves can make a real difference over time. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to be a little less self-critical and a little more intentional in how they care for themselves. Review: My six time reading - I was recommended this book by my therapist that I only saw for two sessions (we didnโt get along very well). But I will always be forever grateful to him for suggesting this book to me. There are books that I read every year like autobiography of a yogi, The Bhagavad-Gita, the Tao de Chingโฆ.. This is now added to that list. I constantly go back to this book monthly to read the highlighted sections to make sure Iโm always practicing being mindful and kind to others. Gradebook Shauna It is truly spoke to me way more than the hundreds of self-help books that I have digested.

A book that Grows Strong.
I was not familiar with the work of Dr. Shauna Shapiro, I listened to her interview at Sounds True with Tami Simon and I was touched by her kindness and the gentleness she approached difficult moments in life. It resonated with me as someone who's trying to integrate the "good wolf and the bad wolf" in the wholeness of life, rather than only feeding the positive thoughts while our shadow is being suffocated in some even darker corners of our subconsciousness. At a doctoral level she integrates neuroscience research with mindfulness approach making the book quite accessible for linear thinkers. Her book humbly echoes the work of many - scientists and spiritual teachers - while adding her own genuine touches - i.e. meditating with Intention, Attention and Attitude. The content is divided in three parts: Dr. Shapiro's journey to Mindfulness; Practices for Challenging Times; Practices to step into the Joy of living. I practiced, pen and paper, the majority methods and exercises given and would return to them time and again as a regular routine to deepen the work of self-compassion, acceptance, forgiveness, gratitude, generosity, loving-kindness, to name a few. The ending is softhearted and lovable, in harmony with her life trail as a mother, a scientist and as a human being, inviting us to plant and cultivate seeds of loving-kindness in our inner garden; and as that landscape grows, the blessings will travel worldwide.

Great book, but very misleading
I purchased Rewire Your Mind thinking it was a different book, only to realize itโs the same book as Good Morning, I Love You with a different title. I returned it immediately because I already own the other version. The book itself is great, so this isnโt a criticism of the content. I just really wish it were made much clearer in the listing that these are essentially the same book. It feels misleading to customers who may unknowingly purchase the same book twice.

This book gave me hope again.
loved this book! If I could give this book ten stars, I would. It is truly life-changing. Besides being a superb writer, Shauna tells her story in a compelling way, drawing on her decades of scientific research, teaching and her personal discoveries. It's clear that she has not only been scientifically studying meditation, but also has been personally practicing it for decades. My favorite quote from the book is: "Wherever you are is the entry point." This comes to mind regularly when I am worried that Iโve missed my chance or itโs too late to change. Shauna presents the science that proves that we can rewire our brain in any moment โ transformation is always possible. This message gave me hope to begin again.

Amazing gentleness layered with neuroscience to lead you into a practice of your own.
I recommend this book to anyone curious about meditation, mindfulness, or self-compassion. It is also relevant to those who have an established practice to understand the science behind it and build new insights around our practice. It is also useful to utilize as a way to present and offer the gift of mindfulness and meditation to others. I highly recommend this book. There is no wrong way; you can start as simply as you need to. That is the beauty of the invitation that Dr. Shauna Shapiro brings as she calls us to rememberโฆ. โGood Morning, I Love Youโ.

One of the most impactful books I have ever read
I have had the good fortune of taking two of Shauna's classes at Santa Clara University, for one of which I read this book. Like Shauna's teaching style, the book is filled with wisdom while being engaging, concise, and easy to read. It is so beautifully written, it will move you to tears. Even if you've felt stuck in your life, this book teaches you that change is possible--you can begin again, from wherever you are. You will learn to slow down, appreciate your life, to feel more connected to others, and to focus on the good.

Change Your Brain, Change Your Life
"Good Morning, I love You" is a real gift to the world. Dr. Shauna Shapiro has masterfully woven story in with teaching in a gentle yet profound way. As I read these pages, I found myself smiling but also deeply reflecting on the kindness and compassion evident in every word. Mindfulness is simple to understand but takes practice. Shauna says, "What you practice, grows stronger." What I love about this book is the hope it gives to every reader that you can indeed change your brain through mindfulness practice. Change your brain, change your life! Enjoy this amazing book--it's gold!
