(I don't have a crowning file). The frets still had plenty of scratches from the leveling at their apex which I did not sand (so the apex was hit with only 400 grit, I think). Then I took this thing and went over each fret with all three grits for only a few seconds each. Holy crow, what a job it did. The crowns are perfectly smooth and shine like mirrors. What a difference. I can see using this lightly any time I change strings if the frets have even a hint of dirt, wear or scratches. Inexpensive and exceeded my expectations.
