I'm a total beginner at polymer clay, my handmade bows are awful so thought I'd try this instead. I wanted quite small bows & this mould suited my needs. There are some bigger bows which I don't need to use just yet, but glad I have them.This was my first time using a mould for clay so I watched youtube for some tips and it was really helpful, the video is better than my explanation so if you want to see the video its;Tips For Using Polymer Clay with Silicone Moulds by Handmade Daily.Tip 1. Use a ball tool to press a small bit of clay into the mould each time, keep repeating this until the mould is filled up just below the fill line. Using small bits of clay each time will show up all the details. This first step maybe obvious but tbh i would of used 1 or 2 bigger bits of clay at a time and i wouldnt of got as good results.Tip 2. Once your mould is filled gently push the sides of the mould together as if you are pushing your clay together, do this all the way around, this helps to release the clay from the mould. I thought this would distort my bow but it didnt at all, once i did this there was a slither of a gap all the way around between the clay and the mould which is what you want. Then pop your clay out. This worked really well, the clay piece came out of the mould easily and it was in perfect condition.I'm so pleased I got this mould, I can now make beautiful bows that don't look like a toddlers made them.
