It didn’t appear to create a definite signal directly above the cable, also appeared to be too broad on either side of the cable and therefore misleading. If the above could be resolved I would recommend it as a good instrument.

If you want to use this for your auto mower boundary wire faults don't bother. I found it about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Many such faults are not clean breaks, but stretched wire or faulty connectors, so a tiny bit of current still flows. Sadly these types of product do not seem to be able to make the distinction. It might indicate where a nice clean break is, but in the real world of 'the auto mower fault' that would be too good to be true.Wasted my money and now, to add insult to injury, they are reduced!!!

This device is very good for locating the path of buried wires (even multi-stranded) but cannot locate a break in a multi-strand wire. I bought it to identify a break in one leg of the boundary wire for my robotic mower (as all robotic mowers know the boundary wire is multi-strand) and the device worked well in locating the wire, it was possible to pinpoint the exact location of the wire, but not the break. Presumably because i) there is not a complete break and/or ii) the signal generated by the transmitter 'bridged' the break via induction due to the multi- strand nature of the wire. Now the Amazon description and the device instructions point out no break detection for multi-strand.p.s. The break was caused by the recent heat wave since the break was in the length of lawn exposed to the most sunshine so if you have recently encountered the same problem try starting you search in the area of grass exposed to the most sunshine!

Cheap and stopped working just after the closure date for return. You buy cheap and you buy twice.

The antenna fell out of the receiver on first use. Product returned.

Trying to find a broken cable but not successful with this gadget

This tracer works pretty well and is worth the money you pay.I needed to trace the buried power cables for lights along my driveway before it was repaved and made wider. The cables on each side of the driveway are about 150 feet long. After digging up a spot on each side of the driveway I found the cables were about 10 inches deep.I was not expecting this wire locator to help me find the cable. It did a pretty good job once I found a set up with the transmitter and receiver that made the location pretty close. My suggestions are to keep the tone level on the transmitter as low as possible. If you don’t the signal will spread to a wider area along the cable route and your location will be off. Also keep the sound level of the receiver as low as possible. Make it just barely able to hear the tone. If you don’t the area that it will show the cable will be wider than you want. As you get further from the transmitter you will need to turn up the volume levels a little more because the signal gets weaker as you get further from the transmitter. A couple of other tips: I used earbuds for both ears to block put the sound around me and the hear the tone better. Avoid using during windy days or the the wind will blow the sensor around. I you taped the sensor to a stick and held it that might help.A couple of things I do not like: the receiver puts a loud snap in your ears when you turn it on and off. Take the ear bud out of your ears or unplug them before doing that. The receiver also produces an excessive amount of hiss (white noise). That makes it harder to hear low level tones.For what it is worth; I am a retired electrical engineer.

L'appareil détecte le cable sous-terre, mais pas si profondeur de plus de 10cm. Pas satisfait du résultat, j'ai renvoyé l'appareil. Le fournisseur m'a rapidement ramboursé.

bought this to find broken wire for the robot mower. However according to this device there was no break and also indicated that my wire was under the patio where it most definitely not was installed about 4-6 inches off where the wire was. So too inaccurate to be of use for my purpose

Ich habe zwei Versuche gemacht und dabei sollte man vorher die Stromzufuhr zur Ladestation trennen. Die Bruchstücke konnte man schnell finden. Die Ursache des Bruch war durch Nager verursacht .Das Gerät hat meine Erwartung erfüllt. Ich kann es durchaus empfehlen.
