Best product for plantar fasciitis
Two years ago, I bought two of these braces in an effort to deal with my terrible plantar fasciitis pain. I had tried all sorts of other products, and now in retrospect I can say that these things were one of the only really helpful purchases (along with some Birkenstocks, and some Hoka One One shoes with inexpensive arch-support insoles). I wear the braces to bed each night, and as other reviews suggested, I criss-cross the bottom two straps so that my heel stays put more securely. The braces gently stretch my heels and prevent that shortening of the tendon that causes so much early morning heel pain! I know that they are continuing to help me a lot, because if I ever go a night without wearing them, the heel pain is back in the morning! You would think that it would be hard to sleep in these, especially for someone like me who deals with insomnia, but you really do get used to it. Initially if I woke up in the night and felt uncomfortable I would take them off, but in only a few days I could sleep in them all night. If I do end up taking them off in the night, I put them back on in the morning BEFORE my feet touch the floor, and let my heels stretch for about 10 minutes before I get up, and that is helpful. Don’t plan on doing any walking around in these—they’re not designed for that. I can manage to shuffle to the bathroom and back if I need to while wearing them, but that’s about it. I think for the price these things are excellent, and they hold up well. I’ve been using mine every single night for almost two years, and they’re still sturdy and comfortable, and keeping my feet happy!

Helped SO Much
I bought this on the recommendation of my doctor and so glad I did. Although it says it's a sleeping boot, she suggested I don't sleep with it, I just use it as I'm resting, and not for too long periods. I used it for anywhere from 1/2 hour to a couple hours at a time until I would start to feel the stretch and get a little uncomfortable. Then I would take it off, but it made such a difference. My foot is almost healed. It is not made for walking, although a few careful steps can be taken because it's sturdy. It's a easy to get on with the clips, and it stretches the foot well. I got a medium, but had to adjust it to the smallest size, and still could have probably used the smaller one. I ordered the one that was my foot size, but it would have been better if they made the range of sizes 8-10.5 not so large because I would have liked it smaller.

It does work. Wish the straps could be moved to the other side.
Update: I have found near complete relief from plantar fasciitis by doing daily calf stretches. If you're struggling with this pain, I highly recommend stretching your calf muscles. I've had PF for years and recently thought I was getting heal spurs. Just doing the stretches for a week allowed me to get out of bed with zero pain. Amazing. I've used this for several nights and have noticed a huge difference in the pain I feel in the morning. Even after just one night. I have had some tingling when I first got it because I had it too tight. It doesn't need to ratchet up your foot much to work. Start off slow then slowly stretch the plantar fascia over several nights. For those wondering if you can walk in this, you can but just barely. I have found I need to turn my foot 90 degrees to the direction I'm walking in order to walk without falling. It's kind of like walking with a flipper on (if you've ever done that). My only complaint is that I wish the straps were moveable to the other side of the boot. The buckles on these are on the right hand side of the boot (while looking down at it on your foot). This makes buckling it on your right foot hard because you have to reach to the outside of your foot and buckle it. If you're using this on your left foot, the buckles will be on the inside of your foot, and therefore easily visible while you're buckling it. I will be ordering another for my other foot.

Short term solution to a long term problem
At the ripe old age of 40 I started developing Plantar Fasciitis. The underside of my feet would ache in the morning as I walked around. After seeing a pediatrist, a night splint and ankle brace/compressions socks were recommended to me. The ankle brace helps throughout the day to keep my symptoms from flaring up. If I wanted to go on a long walk, one of my favorite things, the ankle brace helps out tremendously. To TEMPORARILY resolve pain in the mornings, this night splint does the trick. It isn't a cure all sadly. It only works for a night and then the pain returns. It is far more comfortable than cheaper alternatives with straps that run down the middle of your foot. I had trouble sleeping with one of those, this one looks uncomfortable, but I can typically fall asleep normally. I'm a back sleeper. It probably doesn't work as well for a stomach or side sleeper give its rigidness. As long as you're aware it won't resolve all your foot problems, it is a great device that helps to relieve SOME foot problems from the night before. But it is won't be the one thing that magically cures your foot pain.

This alleviated ongoing PF in a few days use
Comfort? Are you kidding me? this thing isn't supposed to be comfortable. The discomfort is what healed me. The night I got it, I wore it on my left foot for 45 minutes while sitting watching TV, before my foot hurt. I was able to last 2 hours that night after I fell asleep. By the fith night, I was able to keep it on almost 6 hours before the discomfort woke me. I was able to resume walking within 2 days, working back up to 35-50 minutes of aerobic walking a day, within a week. I have had to re-use it occasionally, when I've taken a few days off walking for whatever reason, and my PF comes back mildly. Over the course of a week, I was able to almost sleep the night, while also cinching up the straps significantly to create even more toe up tension. I have used it occasionally since, on both feet (though I've yet to experience PF on my right foot). This alleviated my PF after it getting worse over the course of 2 months, to the point I couldn't walk aerobically for more than 10 minutes at a time. I occasionally need a "tune up" when I take 3 days off, or exceed 110 miles of walking in a month. It is here, I know the signs now, so a day is all I need as the case may be. I have a real issue with the buckles, though. May be just me, but I wish there were very strong metal snaps that held the 3 straps on the boot, so I could change the straps when I wear it on my right foot. It is near impossible to snap the quick release buckles when on the outside (right foot) due to some personal mobility issues. I believe very durable metal snaps to attach the straps could be engineered, without sacrificing ability to get it tensioned enough to be effective. This would allow me to much more easily switch from R to L foot.

A MUST for Achilles Tendonitis
I have been suffering, SUFFERING, with Achilles tendinitis for 8 mos. I have tried everything, RICE, orthotics, heel lifts, stretches, ice, heat, new shoes, acupuncture, hot yoga and physical therapy. Nothing was helping. I am DESPERATE to get back to playing tennis, or even have of hope of doing so. I ran across this boot and thought I may try it out. Is it bulky, yes. Is it painful, yes. But, DOES IT WORK?? YES!!!! I can only bear to have it on for about 3 hours, max. Props to all of you that can go a full night wearing it. I have used it for the last few days for two 2 hour intervals during the day and two 3 hour intervals at night. I am happy to report that I am PAIN FREE! No pain, zero. This morning I couldn't wait to get the damn thing off bc the stretch was over the top, however, when I took it off, the stretch in my ankle eased. I get up and was able to walk without shooting pain. I did an Epsom Salt foot bath, threw some KT tape on and did yoga. I feel great. Give this boot a shot. WELL worth the money.

Exactly Like the Dr.
This is exactly like the one I got from my dr. I'd hate to see what was paid for that one! Great price on this. I wish there was a better way to hold my heel at the back...I can't seem to get the straps tight enough, but to keep my feet from pointing, these do a great job. I agree with someone else that criss-crossing the 2 bottom straps can help keep things more secure. I've been sleeping in them, but I will say the straps over the top of my foot usually bother me after a few hours and I take them off, but for the 1-2hrs/day I'm supposed to wear them, this has worked great!

Does help
Works well. Found myself pulling it off because it is awkward to sleep with. Material was soft. A little weird to start with because if all the straps. Found it easier to use an hour or two a day sitting with my foot up. Did help.

This is a legit night splint - not a sock
Very sturdy, effective night splint - in my case for Plantar Fasciitis and associated ankle strain. It is much more substantial than the other splints I have used (various toe to shin straps and bendable front of shin/ankle aluminum brace). It is a bit of work to get it adjusted, but once there it has three easy clips to take it on and off so easy thereafter. It is not a sock like many of these splints, but rather a hard plastic back of foot/ankle/shin support so it might be tough on sheets (I saw no issue, but was wary of this point). The included velcro wedge is really handy as it does push up the front of the foot about another 3/4 inch, keeping tension on the under-foot tendons, as it should. After just a few days I noticed significant improvement in my foot and was able to put it aside (until the next time). The only note for buyers I would suggest is that unlike so many things on Amazon, this item actually fits LARGER than you will expect. I have a size 11 foot, but found the largest size too large (I couldn't fully tighten the straps), so returned it and got the next size down - that works really well.

Learning curve but effective
I’ve been using this for about a month now at night to combat plantar fasciitis in my right foot. It took me a while to find the strap positions that work best. A few tips and tricks: wear a sock with it to avoid any chafing, and keep the straps looser than what feels effective - my foot is improving even when the straps are looser. The main thing is that my foot is not shortening itself and being held at a 90 degree (ish) angle works fine. If I do the straps (especially the one at the ankle and top of foot) too tight, I’ll wake up with numb toes. They won’t feel too tight when you put it on, so again try it first where they feel loose! Using this, with a combination of stretches has been helping my foot. I recommend it so long as you’re willing to try and test what strap combination works best for you.
