Great Product!
Slipped in to the existing 4" tee, sweet as you please. Filter removal (for cleaning) is easy. Design is clever in it's simplicity.

Pricey,,, but worth it.
Got this when it was time to bring my septic system up to new standards. I believe effluent filters are now code for new septic tank installs. My system functioned well since 1968, but after discovering that both my concrete baffles failed due to age, I decided to bring things up to new standards. Construction of filter assembly seems excellent. Zoeller is a trusted name, I will update review should something happen to warrant update.

Easy to install!
Very easy to install, though it didn't seemed like it was fighting me until the final "CLICK", then it was in. Just watch the orientation of the filter housing to the "T" fitting at the tank's exit port, it's explained clearly in the installation instructions. I installed this when I had the tank open for pumping. Installation was literally 30 seconds. I'll check it in the spring to see if it needs a rinse.

Fit, even in a tight spot - different color - nice peace of mind
* Note, photo includes filter without collar (in tank) and with recommended (not included) self-installed 1/2" PVC extension handle. I included a 1/8" stainless through bolt to connect the two. The product seems to have been updated since its original design very minimally. The color is now blue (not green) but its function is unchanged. It is appropriate for a retro-fit (adding a filter where there was not one) as long as there's an opening above the septic tank's effluent exit tee and the tee is a 4" PVC (or other 4" plastic) fitting. The plastic fitting on my tank was a lighter gauge plastic, (maybe not even PVC?), definitely not Schedule 40. The tank was installed in the early 90's and was in excellent condition. I installed a 6" Schedule 40 PVC pipe as an inspection hole riser, and this made the access down to the filter and tee even tighter. But, the filter (as you disconnect it) has some wobble and give, and cleared the tight opening above without any issue. Since this was part of a drainage field upgrade including an improved distribution box, I'm relieved to know that, should some odd circumstance occur between pumpings and solids attempt to move through the effluent exit, this filter will trap and prevent them from entering the drain field. Most codes now require them, effluent filters are worth the peace of mind.

This is a Superior Product
I am very impressed with how well this filter is made. I believe that it will do an excellent job. It comes with directions, but it took me about an hour to figure things out. The key thing to note is that this filter consists of two parts, even though it might look like one when removed from the shipping box.. The two parts are the filter and the Sleeve. My filter was blue plastic, the sleeve was white plastic. By holding the sleeve with one hand and twisting the handle on the top of the filter, the sleeve may be separated from the filter. The sleeve is what is inserted into the septic tank's exit T pipe. When inserting the sleeve according to directions, it remains in the exit T. The filter can then be easily removed for inspection and/or cleaning. I am delighted with this fine product.
