Can I cut this in half and give each half to a betta and expect it to last a week?

I think so. I put a while one in my 10 gallon with 5 betta sized fish and it lasted 2-3 weeks.

Question 2

Can this be cut smaller?  I have a small 3 gallon tank with one fish.  Can I cut this into 1/4 and only drop 1/4 of it at a time?

Thank you for your interest in this Tetra product R Queen!  Yes, you can cut it into four quarters, and use just 1/4, in fact we highly recommend that in these smaller tanks.  Keep the packaging, and aluminum for the date codes, and store it in a Ziploc back in your refrigerator for up to one month after opening it for the remaining portion.  Please note that this food does NOT release on its own, many customers misunderstand the purpose of this block. The fish must swim to it to nibble on it. Therefore, one fish will not make a big dent in a whole block.  Also, some tips customers have provided us regarding going away and leaving their fish include doing a partial water change a couple of days prior to leaving, and breaking a small piece off of this food and crumbling it for one or two meals before leaving as well. would this work for African Dwarf Frogs?

It would, if it worked at all.  The fact is, when I came back after five days, the block had not dissolved, so basically my fish had gone five days without food.

Does anyone actually have experience of their Betta eating this?

Bettas can be picky eaters. If you need to use this while out of town, break some tiny pieces off and feed it with the regular food for a few days prior to trying the block. Then a couple of days prior to leaving, break a piece off and let it drift down to see if he follows it. Watch him for a couple of days to see if he'll nibble on it.
