Vacation Food Slow-Release Feeder Block For Tropical Fish, 1.06 oz

Kept our fish alive while we were on vacation!

I had a 14 day trip and so I purchased this as it stated it was good for 14 days. I have guppies and an angelfish as shown on the packaging, as well as a couple snails sucker Fish, and shrimp. This is going to be the fourth week and there is still a significant amount of food left. Totally worth the money and exceeded expectations. Good to know that if my trip had run over or if I need to go on a longer trip in the future, I can count on this to feed my fish. noting that there were 8 fish, 2 snails, and 1 shrimp in a 10 gallon tank.

We have 1 female beta, 2 corys, 2 dojos and 5 nerite snails in our 38 gallon tank. I bought this vacation feeder once before when we also had 1 goldfish in our tank. That previous disc was consumed while we traveled, I thought by everyone. Fast forward, goldfish had a fatal encounter inside the tree & I never replaced it because… trash fish. We were going out of town 6/29-7/5 so I ordered this disc again. I also had one of those white shell-shaped vacation feeders I found buried in the fish cabinet, so I put that in the tank, too. Today is July 20th. The disc remains untouched. It’s been almost a month! Ironically, while I was trying to get a video of the disc, one of the corys swam right over it without even stopping. I’ve been checking on this food every day since we returned home in the hopes that the snails would perhaps eat it, but they’re not interested either. Nobody in my tank likes this vacation food, however the white shell vacation food was completely consumed within the week we were gone. I feel bad, now realizing my fish were starving last time we went away. I’ll be picking this disc out of the tank & putting it in the trash because it’s literally nothing more than fodder for algae. P.S. It’s a struggle to pop this disc out of the aluminum dish it’s packaged in.

I put one of the tablets in my 45 gallon tank with six small freshwater fish while I went on vacation. Seven days later it was completely gone and all my fish were alive and well. I recommend!

I don't know if the formula changed, but, my fish didn't touch it. My fish only eat this brand of food and they have had weekend feeders before-only ever this brand- so, I don't know.

I like these fish feeders so much better than the white chalky ones that seem to always leave a white residue in the tank. I break a single 'feed cake' into about 5 or 6 pieces and drop them in different spots so that fish can easily feed on them wherever they are. They ARE slow release, so the food itself is dispersed over a period of many days. I have five guppies, two neon tetras and two algae eaters, so one of these feed cakes lasts about 10 days. An added bonus is that, if you have unwanted snails like I do, you will find them collected on whatever chunks are still left over, and just 'fish' those snails right out of the tank when you get home.

I was going on a couple weekend trips in a row so I bought one for my 10 gallon tank. The tank is home to four guppies and three neon tetras and the fish all seem to like it. The guppies tend to eat at the surface and the tetras around mid tank level so I put it on top of some decoration around mid height. I’ve seen both species eat from it so I’m very pleased. I like it better than the extended releasing feeders already. My snails like it too much however! The greedy little things have been moving it around and I swear one of them hasn’t left the brick for a day! If you have mystery snails I would recommend finding a way to keep the block out of their reach. I figure with my thieving snails that it won’t last the full 14 days (by no fault of the manufacturer!) so plan accordingly.

It’s not worth buying those white feeders, we find they have left the water murky and we have had some casualties. We have been using the Tetra feeders for at least 10 years. It’s good how it slowly feeds flakes into the water or the fish nibble the block. If you don’t have a full tank of fish we cut the block in half.

I received it damaged. It was squeezed into a small box in a very bad way and the funny part is I can't request a return or a refund

Does the job....just make sure the plug doesn't get stuck under any rocks/ornaments in the tank....

We have had fish on and off for 35 years and tried numerous feeding blocks. Some of those cheap blocks have killed our fish. We always use the Tetra branded blocks now and have done for 15 + years. We haven’t had deaths and they don’t pollute the tank like other blocks. The fish can nibble at the block getting food as they need. Love they come in a two pack means you have a spare for another time you go on holiday.
