Had a leak; Used Plumber's Grease
Had a small leak when I installed this replacement part. Some other models come with a pack of plumber's grease in order to help make a water tight seal. After some tests, I used the thicker rubber seal and packed the entire thing with enough grease to grease an elephant. Now it's water tight and I have no issues. I would recommend either buying a product that includes a bit of grease, or to buy a small tube (~$5) for use.

Perfect replacement
This is a great replacement for your back flow preventer. You need to use pipe tape to insure that it doesn't leak...

Worked!
It worked well! The only issue was two of the rubber seals were cracked but the third one was fine. Fit perfectly and very easy to install.

This Febco contraption has been the bane of my existance!
I live in El Paso. It's desert here. I have a 6 year old home. This thing has frozen(?) 3 times. I just put the 3rd repair kit in due to a leak. Several of the moving parts inside were shattered. Did it freeze (in the desert, 3 times?) or did it just explode? I don't know. Enough on that subject.I ordered this kit and installed it. It came with 2 o-rings. The small one was the obvious choice. When I put it in the grove on the poppet assy I noticed the groove was twice as wide as the o-ring and it trailed off into the threads. This allowed the o-ring squirm around and not want to engage the brass casting. Additionally the brass casting has a razer sharp edge the o-ring has to get past to seat where it belongs. I guess in China they have never heard of chamfering an edge ment to engage and o-ring. Well on the third try it is installed and not leaking (for now). What a pain! Manipulating the o-ring past the sharp edge with dental picks, a feeler gage and screw drivers while slowly tightening the poppet assy down. BTW, I'm a retired truck and heavy equipment mechanic. I have installed gobs of o-rings in my day. But in all fairness those o-rings weren't in Chinese equipment. There, I feel better now.
