The awning is collapsed inside the cover for transport. When you want to use it you must unzip the cover, unroll the awning and unfold the legs. There are bungee straps and tiedowns to secure the entire setup. You’ll have to do the reverse to collapse the awning and return it to the storage bag. It may take you about 20 minutes or so the first time until you get hang of it and then you will get faster. Experienced owners can set up and put it away in as little as 5 minutes. **Q: Does it need to be used fully extended or can you open it up partially for a shorter awning?** A: It must be fully extended to use. Unfortunately one of the two awnings I ordered, arrived with damaged packaging. Seems as though this is a common problem during the shipping of this awning. The awning was missing the small box containing the mounting hardware. I immediately reached out to the seller - Hitchweb Canada. Provided them with their requested information. They promptly sent me a replacement awning as I sent back the awning missing the hardware.Excellent customer support! I was missing the brackets, nuts, bolts and guylines (but got the stakes for the guylines). Definitely recommend buying mounting hardware separately.Once I ordered all the hardware needed install.was very easy. I already have Rhino Rack vortex bars on my truck so the brackets easily slide in place.Setting it up is fairly straightforward and only takes a few minutes. And it quickly rolls back up for storage.
